The Dutch like their euthanasia but sure are sensitive when a prominent person describes the horrors that medicalized killing has unleashed. Latest example: Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum criticized Dutch euthanasia in an interview with James Dobson, stating in part:
Ten percent of all deaths, and half of those people are euthanized involuntarily, because they are old or sick. And so elderly people in the Netherlands dont go into a hospital. They go to another country.
The Dutch media pounced, mocking Santorum for charging their doctors with murdering the elderly on a grand scale. Alas, he asked for it because he got the details wrong. When decrying the culture of death, one must be as accurate as possible. Otherwise, the fish wiggles off the hook.

For those interested.
And they really don't like it when you point it out to them.
The “Dutch” and the Dutch auction on death... the scum of the universe... Bullies with an accent.... Nazi enablers... that is the modern “Dutch”.....
FReepmail Antoninus to be added or removed.
Just so. As St. Paul says, “The law of God is written in the heart,” so that even the Gentiles have a conscience that tells them what is right and what is wrong.
And if you ignore your conscience, it can become like a “burning coal.”
Those who ignore religion and traditional morality may not know why they feel uneasy and guilty, but a statement like Santorum’s can hit them unexpectedly hard. So, they shout back, hoping that it will go away.
It's too high capacity for me, therefore...
I'd like to be removed from the ping list.
(I might be on in several places.)
Still a Santorum supporter, I just don't need more info.
Thanks!
.
Santorum has it dead on the money.
This is not news. Dutch doctors have admitted that they don't bother with all the paperwork and they often terminate patients without asking when they think the patient's quality of life is not worth living.
So a high percentage of euthanizations are done without reporting, and done without asking the patient or the family.
I always said, if I'm sick in Holland, get me across the border.
Santorum more right than wrong about Dutch euthanasia
The Dutch and the Dutch auction on death... the scum of the universe... Bullies with an accent.... Nazi enablers... that is the modern Dutch.....

Absolutely! But, will that get anyone a job tomorrow? Keep a family from losing their home? Repeal ObamaCare? Solve the Immigration problem? As if the GOP Primary Process wasn’t wacked enough, today we’ve brought (1.) Satan and (2.) Dutch bullies into the mix. This whole GOP Primary season is such a friggin’ travesty of the political process the Founding Fathers envisioned for this nation. What a crock of sh** this Election cycle is.
While you are busy falling into the liberal/Drudge trap of causing everyone to hyperventilate to non-issues,
I support everything Santorum said as the sincere observations of a moral man.
And I can point you to constant radical marxist communist and just plain stupid crap coming daily from Obama and his fellow crud like Pelosi, Biden, Waters, Carney and a cast of thousands of kooky leftists.
I was there several times in the late 80s and mid 90s, both to find family and to see protection dog training. It was a wonderful place to travel. Yet now, what was once the first middle class country on earth, free to practice their faith, a model distribution of small towns and farms, with a culture of personal dignity, a strong focus on children, a high level of education, and unbelievably hard work, is now an increasingly urbanized cesspool of depravity, lassitude, selfishness, and fear of pain.
It's sickening to witness the change.
The vast majority of terminal cancer patients die from involuntary euthanasia as they are far too delirious to administer to themselves that last push or two on the morphine pump.
That last push usually comes from a family member or a nurse.
That's easily 3-5% right here in the good old USA and it's not even legal.
It's certainly, technically, murder.
The death certificate always says natural causes.
They probably have not sat with a family member, dying of pancreatic cancer...a big grown man down to 91 pounds and pissing black tar.
Begging, please God let me die.
Yep, most of those folks haven't been there yet. Most haven't found it necessary to kill a father or mother to bring them final peace.
They'll judge instead.
Based on your many Santorum posts all with the comment “for those who are interested” I take it you are for Santorum.
There's more than one son that would have killed anyone who tried to keep him from killing his father.
Yes, I am for Santorum. I have a ping list I ping for those that are interested in reading it. All I want to do is post articles, but there are those that just won’t leave well enough alone, and feel compelled to come on and attack, attack, attack.
They’re free to come on and do that. All I’m interested in is posting articles for those interested to read. That’s it. But I do support Santorum.
Well I really like Santorum too and don’t understand why so many on freerepublic think that he is going to do worse than McCain if he dosn’t just concede the abortion, gay marriage and health care mandates to Obama.
Because they're delusional. LOL!
It's the old meme, "he can't get the independents." That, of course, is ridiculous. There are more independents that don't want Obamacare and believe in traditional values than don't. And those that don't are Democrats that are unwilling to register as a Democrat.
