Martha McSally, the first female Air Force pilot to fly in combat who is seeking ex-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s seat in Arizona’s special election, blurted out in a TV interview Friday that she wanted to “go and kick him in the jimmy.”

“You know, I agree with many of the things that Rick Santorum says, but when I heard this, I really just wanted to go and kick him in the jimmy,” McSally, a Republican, said on “Fox & Friends,” referring to Santorum’s recent controversial comments about women in the military.

Col. Martha McSally Says She’d Like To Kick Rick Santorum “In The Jimmy”

http://youtu.be/j-VVHGfDCAI

Col. Martha McSally, a Republican candidate for former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ Arizona congressional seat and the first American woman to fly in combat, said on “Fox and Friends” on Friday that she’d like to kick Rick Santorum “in the Jimmy’ after hearing his comments about women serving on the front lines of combat.

“He’s totally out of touch. I mean, completely out of touch. These are the types of arguments we heard 20, 25 years ago as to why women couldn’t be fighter pilots. It’s an insult to the men and women who are serving overseas, putting their lives on the line and focusing on the mission right now.”

The kid gloves started well before she sued Rumsfeld. The very fact that she was able to leave PSAB was a sign of the kid gloves. She had done nothing to qualify her as an expert in anything, but was taken to meet political types - thus the trips off PSAB.

Judging from this comment I can’t tell what party she is running in.

Do you really think female in the military are held to the same standards as men? All you need to do is look at the physical fitness requirements. Originally those physical requirements were put in place to ensure men were physically strong enough to perform in combat. To do things like carry a wounded man. If women are so equal then why the different standards. If you think it is just in the physical testing you are ignorant of what really happens in the military.

I don’t know her politics, but I don’t like her personally. She did have the sweetest husband in the world for a short while.

I think most Americans will agree with Santorum

I have an aunt that passed away last October. She too, was a retired Colonel having served as an Army Nurse in both Korea and Viet Nam.

After she retired she became fairly active in the PA GOP. In 2005, when she celebrated her 80th Birthday, our family wrote members of the PA congressional delegation and asked if they would like to share in the celebration of her B-day.

Precisely ONE response was received in the form of a very personal letter copiously thanking my Aunt for her 30 years of active duty and her service to this nation.

That letter was from Senator Santorum. To say that he is against women in uniform is utterly ridiculous. My aunt would have been embarrassed by this Colonel's remarks.

My Nephew is a commander of an F-22 squadron himself. I differ greatly from your outlook. He has been in service since Desert Storm, flew countless sorties, is an “Ace”, has made several SUPER BOWL/NFL Game flybys and his comment about all the wings under his command, you won’t find one derogatory “flaming assholes” illustration in his vocabulary.

I guess that’s why he is a Colonel and has made it as far as he has. He carries a strong sense of honor, duty and respect for all who occupy the cockpit.

McSally is pretty much wrapped up in her own point of view alone, and in her one dimensional view of herself, as being both female and macho. She gives no place whatsoever to the man, or to the nature of man to defend a woman, or the natural burden a woman is to him on a battlefield, and certainly she discounts his opinion on the matter.

These selfish thinking feminists can NOT defy nature, which does the dictating here, whether McSally likes it, or not.

Why should the male soldier deserve the extra burden placed on his own human nature;that of defending some dang woman in the field, at the same time having to deal with the problems her presence can bring, nevermind her inferior physical strength. His natural inclination to defend her is in keeping with nature and can not be changed.

These women have made themselves god.

He’s an ACE? I didn’t know we had any current aces. Care to provide some more details?

And anyone who has been in fighters who hasn’t met any flaming assholes...hasn’t ever been in a fighter squadron. I spent my life in fighter squadrons. I know better.

Your “Hype” meter is running off the scale. I suggest you reel it in a bit.

Knowing something about the Military Code myself, the Military has a strong standard for Men and Women separately.

The Military has done exhaustive studies into the physical differences between Men and Women. Women do not have the chemistry or the Physiological ability to perform like Men under extreme physical conditions. Its a physical impossibility due to the way Women's bodies work under physical stress.

Therefore This is no secret, nor is it an issue to be applied to actual combat. The Military has a standard for it and fully accepts the differences.

However, where performing complex tasks is concerned, like flying highly complex aircraft or operating complex equipment, Women do quite well.

The emotional physiology is also debatable. Some women perform under severe pressure, every bit as well as Men, since it's mostly a matter of training, conditioning and exposure.

Get used to it. In this modern Military, Women are here to stay. Perhaps limited in some areas, as well they admittedly should be. But don't put them down. They do have a useful purpose.

I saw the interview with McSally this morning and I would hate to have been on the receiving end of the gun on her A-10. She is obviously a tough cookie and would not fit in well with the country club RINOs. However, she is kind of independent conservative we need in Congress. I have been very impressed with Congresswoman Kristi Noem (R-SD) for the same reasons.

Meaning he has one kill, not the old standard of 5. And no, I will not give you his name.

As far as the “flaming assholes” designation, by who’s example are you basing it on, your own?

Personaly, I'm in complete agreement with your comments..I was never suggesting that women should be eligible for infantry..nor, do I think are any sane women suggesting the same. Physically they don't have the strenght, the stamina.

Earlier in the thread, someone commented on the Jessica Lynch case..which is more valid...she was serving in a combat support role, but found herself at the front lines. That type of event is inevitable, given the nature of warfare today.

OTOH, can we ignore the Israeli model, which basically views women as front line combat troops as needed. It's probably NOT an apt comparison, because the entire country is in fact the front line..you can't isloate the females...also, if the Arabs ever won, ever female in Israel would be subject to rape and other abuses...it's indeed remarkable, and fortunate, that Israel has never had a female soldier captured..but it's also inevitable..just a question of when..

“Meaning he has one kill, not the old standard of 5.”

In other words, he is not an ace. Sorry, charlie, but you don’t become an ace by shooting down one plane.

“As far as the “flaming assholes” designation, by who’s example are you basing it on, your own?”

Yes, I was a flaming asshole sometimes. Less so than others, but I wasn’t famous for my charm. That is why I fit well in a fighter squadron. There were a LOT of fighter pilots who were flaming assholes. There has never been a fighter squadron in history without them - or us, if you prefer.

But McSally was different. She was out for herself. She was going to be a feminist icon, and damn anyone who got in the way. Her career was based on politics, not flying or combat.

Odds are very good she was never, ever shot at while flying. Some of us don’t call that combat. I was shot at, but so poorly that I don’t call it combat either. But then, I wasn’t trying to make my career by boasting of being a hero - and using hero standards that would only apply to a woman.

Then we largely agree. I believe Santorum’s comments were oriented toward front-line, infantry type of combat. That is very different from doing convoys, although I think we are foolish to have women doing convoys. But that isn’t going to change, regardless of my opinions.

Your correct they do have a purpose, as support roles, not in combat. Sure they can fly a combat aircraft, but if they are shot down can they carry their wounded co-piolt to safety on E&E? Just because they are in a fighting machine does not mean they cannot get that machine shot out from under them. I would not want to rely on a woman in combat.

4000 years of history has proven, men are built for combat. Women are built to survive other enviromental stresses.
