On January 7th, at the Republican debate, George Stephanopoulos embarked on a sudden, unexpected, and bizarre series of questions about contraception and birth control. Most of the political pundits who watched this, were somewhat puzzled at the virtual harangue that Stephanopoulos went on, asking candidate after candidate to pin down their views -- even though birth control issues were decidedly not in the forefront.
Then, President Obama and his brain trust picked a fight with the Catholic Church, demanding that they fund birth control and abortion services. When the Church rose up in anger, they compromised -- they only needed to accept birth control and abortion services, the funding would come later.
Angered by the arrogance and the mandate to go against their conscience, soon a bill was proposed that would stop these unConstitutional mandates. Within hours, Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) assembled on Capitol Hill to denounce 'Republicans who wanted to keep women barefoot and pregnant', who wanted 'to bring us back to the medical dark ages'.
This was the plan all along. Obama picked a fight, on purpose, to be able to have these sound bites uttered. The media, complicit in every effort to bring America farther to the left, knows the lie but will not explain: This has nothing to do with contraception. This has everything to do with mandating religious behaviors and belief. Contraception is the hill they are fighting on, but the war is over forcing the Church to do something they will not -- and they CANNOT.
The media will never explain the nuances of this, and Team Obama knows that. They wish to mobilize women by making them believe -- amazingly -- that somehow, Republicans intend to poke holes in condoms and substitute Tic-Tacs for Birth Control Pills.
The fact George Stephanopoulos asked this question, during the January 7th debate -- into a political vacuum as regards this issue -- tells even the casual observer that this plan of attack was well-premeditated, and directed from the White House. The immediacy of response from the most diligently liberal also implies preparation. We have, in front of us, what the Democrats wish to make the election about: Scaring women with outright lies. Apparently, scaring the elderly in the same way isn't working as well.
This just in. ‘Santorum’s provocative language could be obstacle’

BTTT and sending this to friends.
Well written.
@theoldlady Thanks for the ping!

I prefer a comparison to México in the 1920s, although that persecution persisted through the 1930s in various forms in numerous states, and the Mexican government (of communist ideology) continued to conduct pogroms against her own people for decades thereafter.
The situation in Spain (España) in the 1930s was even more deadly for the Church but somewhat more complicated: not only a communist state and the Catholic Church but also greater proximity to the French Revolution, a monarchist party, and a fascist Falange who won with foreign intervention from Nazi Germany but ultimately proved quite benign.
The main difference is that our government is stronger and more powerful domestically, more capable of bureaucratically suppressing insurrection. I pray for the survival of this once-great country and of her people, including especially the innocent babies that this Administration desires deeply to poison, shred, or otherwise annihilate as inconvenient.
Well done, Laz! Accurate analysis, and really fine writing.
Thanks for the ping!
Off topic but I once asked a guy from Maine; "Lived here all your life?" Not yet.

ABCs George Stephanopoulos Admits Daily Calls with Rahm Emanuel
They were complicit in his election and will do whatever it takes to keep him in power. And if you think they are going to drop bombs in February, you are mistaken. These attacks are just keep all a little off balance, wait till the nukes start falling. They want civil unrest to the point of riots and specifically race riots in this country.
This administration has orchestrated the Arab spring to reign in the brotherhood and all will culminate this fall, both in the middle east and right here!
We are in for a fight like never seen in this country.
Many question "Who is Barack Obama?" Someday we may find out, but the fact is that whoever created him is hell bent on destroying this country and you don't get this close to accomplishing that goal only to lose a simple election.
Hey Laz- You’re viral! This article was posted on FB by someone I don’t know to a FB friend of mine. Way to go!
“México in the 1920s...and 1930s”
Thank you.
You know, there is a theory that Trotsky was killed by Diego Rivera because of Kahlo’s affair with Trotsky. Not unimaginable.
Laz, you are right on. When Steffie asked that question, I was like, where is this on the radar screen—this topic is nowhere in sight.
But you are correct, it was the first pitch of a co-ordinated attack, with planned short range and long range benefits for the radical leftists that now control the Democcrat party.
The cat was out of the bag with Steffie when he helped Zero recover from the “ my religion is Muslim” remark.
Steffie is such a good foot soldier.
SHHHH! I will NEVER get a date on this forum if you expose me!
Besides, I'm thinking the penicillin will help.
But seriously, I'm honored. I'm going to try to kick up my game and post one newspaper-quality editorial, on this forum, a week. If this catches on, perhaps JR will put a nice little place up for people who write forum-endorsed, quality editorials.
Original content, right here. Then WE can sue OTHER publications. lol
I’ve been thinking this for a while, and kudo’s for articulating this. Stephie is a O-bomb-us insider butt boy that’s for sure. Like we didn’t know that already.
And, you are correct.
“If this catches on, perhaps JR will put a nice little place up for people who write forum-endorsed, quality editorials.”
That is a fine idea sir. I believe that in the past there were friendly vanity post/editorial competitions here? I too would be interested in contributing to a editorial section...
Dick Morris expounded this theory last nite on O’Reilly. O’Reilly poo-pooed it, but Morris worked with Stepanopolous during the Clinton years.
I think it was an almost ‘brilliant’ calculation in kicking the issue out there like that.
What people forget, its really not about contraception, its about the first amendment.
One caution: At the elite levels of the media, reporters, both Republican and Democrat, have social relations with people on both sides of the political fence in the White House and Congress. While George Stephanopoulos’ partisan affiliations lead to obvious and legitimate questions, it's just as possible that someone in the White House just happened to suggest that this would be a good question for him to focus on. Given the fact that Stephanopoulos’ family includes a very conservative nun and he has personal ties to religiously conservative people in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions, he would be the logical person to whom the White House might have wanted to suggest this question.
Also, the contraception issue has been percolating in left-wing publications for some time as a complaint about Rick Santorum, and it's even showed up on Free Republic. Initially I didn't understand that line of complaint — after all, what's wrong from a liberal perspective with saying women have a right to do what they want with their own bodies, including having lots of kids? — but logic doesn't always apply in politics.
