Placing her on the same level as fallen soldiers.

Another reason to drive around the garden state.

What an idiot. Makes the idea of a Romney/Christie ticket even more nauseating...

I have nothing against Whitney Houston I’m sorry she died. Wouldn’t it be best for our youth if instead of honoring her, we cursed her to hell?

I tolerated fat-boy because he stood up the the teachers’ union - he is an anti-gun idiot. The US Colors being flown at half-staff for an ENERTAINER????
A crackhead who basically destroyed herself entertainer on top of that.

I wonder if they do this for NJ soldiers who die in war?

I wouldn’t lower a flag for a suicidal celebutard

She was talented, but an abject lesson in what not to be.
on pills and booze and die drunk and stoned in a bathtub.

Tragedy but does not deserve flag honors. Cheapens the act for honoring true heroes.

“...Houston was an important part of the cultural fabric of this state...”

Right. Alcholism and drug abuse is an important part of our culture... sheesh!

The National Anthem at the Supwerbowl, 1881, ten days into the Gulf War (Desert Storm)

Could be this is what Christie was thinking, but could we just give the bashing a break, just for her doing this?

She was a good singer but...

She was a drug addict and likely died due to a mix of drugs (either leagal or illegal) and alcohol. Her two day bender all around town prior to her death was well documented.

She should be acclaimed for her talent but her life should be shown as an example of what substance abuse can do to you.

Public places include SCHOOLS. So lower the flag to honor a great New Jersey native who also happened to be screwed up by drugs and alcohol.

Pure crass politics.

No way a singer should get half staff.

There is a joke going around and I got it on my phone...it’s a picture of a lighter and above the lighter is a spoon and the caption says...Candlelight vigil for Whitney, keep it lit. Haha

This sends a great message to kids who are more and more facing the choices of drug use.
