"We intend to change Washington, not accommodate it," Newt Gingrich told the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday in the nation's capital.
Comparing his accomplishments as Speaker of the House to those of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, Gingrich did not veer far from the stump speech he has delivered almost daily for months in states across the country. He outlined his proposals to repeal President Barack Obama's health care law, as well as the financial regulatory laws known as Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley; to eliminate Obama's White House "czars"; to require those receiving unemployment benefits to sign up for a work training program; to replace the Environmental Protection Agency with an "Environmental Solutions Agency"; and to roll back "40 percent" of Obama's policies in his first day in office.

I’m here late and wasn’t sure when you would be here! It’s all your now. In fact, I’m looking for a something I meant to send to you that’s amongst my mail. Give me a minute. I’m not happy about it. LOL..
I'm sticking with Gingrich until he tells me he's no longer a candidate.
I'm stickin' with Gingrich until he tells me he's no longer a candidate.
Go Newt!!!
I was pleasantly surprised at Santorum’s speech and almost started to thaw towards him. Then, along comes Newt and shows there’s really no comparison. NEWT NEWT NEWT!
Newt’s problem is that when he says things like this he’s clearly full of crap. He’s been a “Washington insider” for decades and has no intention of changing anything.
Wow, really? Then why do the Establishment Democrats AND REPUBLICANS fear him, hm? He has been out there with his “ American Solutions” tours talking about CHANGING WASHINGTON for a DECADE. And I think that THEY think he means it!
So let’s see. If you don’t think Newt will, how about Santorum? Nice guy, could support him but he is a big government social conservative. Mitt? Well, Mitt was born into the ruling class, cementing his position by doubling down as a Wall Street guy. Not gonna happen there. Ron Paul? HA! Paul has been busy for years telegraphing to all of America’s enemies that if he were president they would be free to do anything they want, all over the world, while America isolates ourselves within our borders. He would be spending his presidency tied up with trying to undoing all of the damage that he instigated with his whacked out foreign policy beliefs.
So, are you just one of those that believes that any kind of change is “unrealistic”? Newt talked about you, too.
If he doesn’t, it’s not because of his “Intention”, it’s because too many like you don’t want him to.
Did Newt use his CPAC address as an opportunity to explain all the idiotic stands he took in the past that have no basis in conservative principles? I'll cite his support for Medicare prescription drugs and "clean energy" as two in particular.
Did he tell the folks at CPAC that he made this idiotic ad because he was a paid shill for the ethanol industry?

I have heard his explanation on Medicare prescription drugs. Have you? You are NOT going to get rid of Medicare. So if Medicare will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for open heart surgery, but won't pay for cholesterol lowering drugs or blood pressure medicine, how does that make sense? If Medicare will pay for kidney dialysis but won't pay for insulin, how does that make sense?
As for his energy policy, he is an “all of the above guy”. And yes, he does believe in government investment to get us totally independent of foreign sources of energy. I am not completely for that but I understand his reason. I don't ascribe nefarious, self-serving motivations to his positions. Apparently you do.
Again, who do you support?
Are you so much of an ideologue that you cannot find any merit in an “all of the above” approach? Do you think that by even saying “clean energy” you are indicting oil and gas and “agreeing” with the liberals?
As for the Pelosi couch episode, I wish that Newt had had your crystal ball. Of course, the fact that he said it was one of the dumbest things he has ever done is not good enough for you. And, of course, the fact that he said that Conservatives SHOULD be in the middle of the climate debate, engaged, doesn't matter to you.
Who do you support?
Little Ricky can be Newt’s VP. That’s fine.
Go back and look at his track record on the two issues I cited in particular: Medicare prescription drugs and ethanol fuel. In both cases the guy took those public positions for no other reason than the fact that he was a paid lobbyist for industries that stood to benefit greatly from a massive government program that had no basis in conservative political philosophy.
I'm not even suggesting there's anything wrong with anything he's done. But c'mon, Newt -- don't play me for a fool.
I'll support any candidate who comes out of the GOP primary campaign on top. These candidates are all so flawed that I won't waste any time supporting them.
