SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Shoppers in San Francisco will have to pay 10 cents per bag and more retailers are now banned from handing out plastic bags under a proposal approved Tuesday by the city's Board of Supervisors.
San Francisco already bans large grocery stores and chain pharmacies from using plastic bags, which are blamed for clogging landfills and waterways. The proposal extends that ban to restaurants and to gift shops, hardware stores, boutiques and other retailers.

Okay, I know this is going to surprise some people, but I don’t particularly blame the politicians in San Francisco on this one.
How would any of us like to be a politician with their record, and have so many perfect head-sized plastic bags out there a citizen could find a reasoned use for, if they ever woke up?

Anyone ever see a waterway 'clogged' up with plastic bags?

If they are so concerned with plastic bags filling up landfills , then why do they demand that all trash be placed in a large plastic bag?

What do San Franciscans use for pooper scooper bags in SF? -Either from walking their dogs or scooping out the litter box?
Do they have to buy plastic bags specially designated for that use?

I wonder what the definition of a plastic bag in the law is? A condom is really just a plastic bag isn’t it? Are they banning condoms in gay San Francisco?

I work for a company that tosses plastic wrap, styrofoam and plastic banding into a dumpster (30’ x 12’ x 10’) until it is nearly full every day. I bet other industrial plants are tossing out similar things made of plastic. If these environweenes want to do something with plastic waste, why not use it to generate electricity? If not that, we should turn it into boats and ships these nitwits to a country where they would feel happy.
