Retired U.S. Marine Corps officer Oliver North told The Daily Caller that he would like to see former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as commander in chief, saying that another four years of President Barack Obama would be “a nightmare.”
North told TheDC at the Conservative Political Action Conference that “two years ago, when [Gingrich] suggested he might run, he asked for my support. I pledged I would do it,” he said. (RELATED: More interviews from CPAC)
“It’s time for us to hire a commander in chief who doesn’t feel necessary to run around the world apologizing for America,” said North.
“I’m deeply concerned that if we don’t hire a new commander in chief… we can indeed end up in very, very serious jeopardy in this country,” he added.

For the record, I think Newt would probably be a decent president. In a head-to-head with Santorum I'd probably vote for him.

Super! I met LtCol North while he was campaigning for U.S. Senator from VA. Ollie knows well how the “insiders” club works against honest Conservatives. When Ollie ran for U.S. Senator from VA, VA’s senior U.S. Senator, John Warner, would not endorse Ollie and actually supported the Democrat in that race.
Note: For the benefit of those unfamiliar w/VA political history, former U.S. Senator, John Warner, was a prominent “RINO” “country club” Republican and should not be confused w/VA’s current U.S. Senator, Mark Warner, a Democrat.)
Given his strong feelings on the role of the Commander-in-Chief, it stands to reason that Perry should have had his endorsement early on in the process.

It seems a possibility that Mitt removed Michael Steele because of the anti any one of color, or not being able to manipulate Steele, Mitt then replaced him with a compliant man at the top who allowes him to place his people in positions within the RNC.

I would love to have Oliver North as our president.
These are good people and real conservatives. I like North and have always felt a great deal of respect for him.
This will wind up in another disaster similar to 2008. Mark my words.

The fact is NOT a candidate running accomplished so much for our country as Gingrich. God bless Ollie! I loved working for him in Virginia and what a beautiful family he has...the media went after North just like they are going after Newt. It was a hell of a battle. Same scenario..the gop establishment split and went after Ollie which resulted in Chuck Robb winning. Eventually Robb lost to Allen. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEWT! God bless the true American heroes that know a great candidate when they see one and it isnt Mitt or Rick!

I think you are crazy. Steele got dumped because fundraising was less than expected. The election to replace Steele went about 6 ballots. This is stupid. If you organize a coup you make sure it does not go 6 ballots or you don’t do a coup.
