At the FReeper Canteen!

C'mon and take a break ! Walk on over to the water cooler and lets chat. Post your thoughts, opinions, news of the day, rantings, ravings, pontificates, hypothesis, hyperboles, your soap box cause, your mantra, your baggage, your garbage, your blogging, your secrets, whatever you feel would make talk around the water cooler real interesting!

Please remember that The Canteen is here to support
and entertain our troops and veterans and their families,
and is family friendly.

Costello: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America .
Abbott: Good subject, terrible times, it's 9%.

Costello: That many people are out of work.
Abbott: No that's 17%.

Costello: You just said 9%.
Abbott: 9% unemployed.

Costello: Right 9% out of work.
Abbott: No that's 17%.

Costello: Okay so it's 17% unemployed?
Abbott: No that's 9%.

Costello: Wait a minute, is it 9% or 17%?
Abbott: 9% are unemployed. 17% are out of work.

Costello: If you're out of work you are unemployed.
Abbott: No you can't count the out-of-work as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

Costello: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!
Abbott: No, you miss the point.

Costello: What point?
Abbott: Some one who doesn't look for work can't be counted with those who look for work, it wouldn't be fair.

Costello: To who?
Abbott: The Unemployed.

Costello: But they are all out of work.
Abbott: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work ... those who are out of work stopped looking. They gave up, and if you give up you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

Costello: So if you're off the unemployment role, that would count as less unemployment?
Abbott: Unemployment would go down, Absolutely!

Costello: The unemployment just goes down because you don't look for work?
Abbott: Absolutely it goes down that's how you get 9%, otherwise it would be 17%. You don't want to read about 17% unemployment do ya?

Costello: That would be frightening.
Abbott: Absolutely.

Costello: Wait, I got a question for you, that means that they're two ways to bring down the unemployment number?
Abbott: Two ways is correct.

Costello: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?
Abbott: Correct.

Costello: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?
Abbott: Bingo.

Costello: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to just stop looking for work.
Abbott: Now you got it.

WELCOME TO

(where our troops, allies and their families can refresh themselves)

Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our

Military, our Allies, and their families.

Thank you, Connie, for preparing the Canteen for today's activities.

What a sweet, sweet graphic! (sniff)

OMG! Connie, I love the little sneakies you put in the answers.
Buttmaster had me chuckling.

Now our local DC Metroland weather report

~ Today...Sunny.
Highs in the upper 40s.
Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.

~ Tonight...Mostly clear.
Lows around 30.
South winds around 5 mph.

Well the good news is that we did not get any snow at the homestead!

Looks like it's time for another installment of

DID YOU KNOW?

Murmansk, in Russia, is the largest city north of the Arctic Circle.

Olive oil is made only from green olives.
Nearly the entire production of green olives grown in Italy
is converted into olive oil.

Dinner guests in medieval England
were expected to bring their own knives to table
– hosts did not provide them.
The fork did not appear until the sixteenth century,
and fork-and-knife pairs were not in general use
in England until the seventeenth century.

One-fourth of the people who lose their sense of smell
also lose their desire for sexual relations.

Falling behind schedule fast.
Phone call took me away
so now I've got to make my rounds.
But, you stay right where you are.
Keep the troops entertained and the Canteen clean...
Cause...if you don't...I'll tell Ma!

WE ARE

Come in and sit for a while.

There's always plenty of coffee, tea
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS

PLEASE REMEMBER THEM ....

DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

Morning, Kathy!

A Florida Room is like a sun parlor or a sunroom. Mine is completely enclosed, with bay windows and all hardwood floors.

The major thing I must do to improve the place is more ceiling fans. That’s on the To-Do List!
