By MICHAEL R. CRITTENDEN And NEIL KING JR. Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum handily won Missouri's primary election Tuesday night and was showing signs of strength in Minnesota's caucuses, threatening to deal national front-runner Mitt Romney a setback in two Midwestern states.
With results from Colorado just trickling in, the returns from the other two states holding nominating contests Tuesday looked to give a jolt of momentum to Mr. Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator.

It's just wonderful. I'm so glad he got a big slap down....him and the GOP-e.
I love Missouri and the people of that State. Just made my 5th trip there last week to spend a week with long-time friends and a lot of other great folks.
I suggest a Pax AntiRomneyicus.
Meaningless but helpful to stave off Romney’s “sweep” narrative.
Ever hear of Super PACs?
Leave and stop bringing down the average.
That's the point.
It’s about time the Newtbots quit amoral Newt, stuck with Santorum, and support him to the finish. Romney has nothing on Santorum morality-wise, and Santorum just isn’t old news like Gingrich either. Gingrich is a loser who can’t win in the presidential race, South Carolina against Santorum’s three, and Santorum could win Florida, Ohio, and other lost states from 2008 in a general election. About time the brainwashing attempts about how great Gingrich is took a break and a trip through the wash themselves.
Go from Newt to Santorum, at least Santorum has the morality and character that Newt lacks. It’s not a hard transition, plus Santorum isn’t Romney.
I haven't seen Santorum backing the global warming scam, cap and trade, amnesty, individual mandates, ObamaCare, RomneyCare, Medicare D and Dede Scuzzafava like your hero Newt, the serial adulterer.
well taking colorado and minnesota where newt was up by 20 a few weeks ago but wound up a whopping fourth at a laughable 10 percent...i think my fellow freeper had it right..newtbots take that...but hey i think they all suck
ya he would have won..ok ya...dream dream all we have to do is dream
It was Santorums's turn to take the lead in the standings. Let' see how fast he falls, just like those before him.
Believe me...lots of Missourians love Newt. I am on their FB site and the tea party site. He is the greatest candidate running for president..no holds barred! GO NEWT!
Take that Mittbots....
I’m in Missouri, too, and Outlaw Woman DID make a valid point.
There are plenty of Newt people in Missouri - I’m one of them, I’m going to see if I can caucus next month, and I’m no “casual voter”.
(What is that, by the way? You mean like those who elected Obummer because they thought he was running for American Idol?)
Don’t be that way. I support any conservative! I very much was for Newt, but if Rick takes up the slack...then I’m all for him.
I’m amused at the use of “bots” or “bot” behind someone’s name if a person favors that other person. Does someone always have to be a “bot” to like or support someone? If that were the case, would that make you a Santorumbot? It used to be called voting your principles if you supported someone who thought like you, now it makes you a bot?
Not to be seen as picking on you, it’s just that the phrase “bot” is so overblown as to be sophomoric these days. Oh and by the way, the contest that your person won today in my state, Missouri...he didn’t really win anything...no delgates, no nothing.
So I guess I could say, take that Santorumbot.
If I wouldn’t be stupid enough to vote for Newt, what makes you think I’d cast my vote for Mitt?
Santorum is only slightly better than Mitt? That’s really your actual take on it?
You now folks, if you want to support Newt, go for it. Please knock off the trashing of Santorum to make it easier. That really doesn’t fly.
As for Newt and Mitt going at it head on, I’m not sure how you get around that if you want your guy to win. You have to plead your case, and part of that is explaining what the other guy has done wrong.
