Komen for the Cure just released the following statement from Nancy Brinker and the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors:
We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives.
The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not.
Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation. We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.
Our only goal for our granting process is to support women and families in the fight against breast cancer. Amending our criteria will ensure that politics has no place in our grant process. We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities.

Not unexpected. Reminds me very much of when Dayton/Hudson stores decided to stop funding Planned Parenthood and then quickly reversed course.
You are either of the world or you are of God and if you are of the world, you will not see clearly the pain caused by abortion and will succumb to the financial pressure to live as the world does. I’m sure the Komen people would face serious loss of funding if they weren’t promoted by the liberal media and liberal groups. After all, there’s no way the Komen people would be everpresent in the media without towing the liberal line.
I knew this would come out the way it did but now they have made themselves more publicly aligned with funding Planned Parenthood so more people of God will choose not to support them.
It’s too bad they caved but now their bloodied hands are far more visible. Prior to the events of this week it took a whole lot more explaining to convince people of the Komen-PP link. There are a whole lot more people now who won’t be participating and donating to their walks and other fundraisers. Watch Komen’s donor income plummet over the next year.
Our quilt group raises $1,000 a year, and that is where we send the money, we checked out Breast Cancer Foundation after many of our members asked if they funded PP with our donations, and the answer was NO.

And I am going to add a piece of advice for ALL women who have had hysterectomies make sure your GYN checks your bladder very thoroughly each time you go for your pap smear. Seems PROLAPSED BLADDER is EXTREMELY COMMON for those of us who have had to have hysterectomies for various reasons. I've had my 'lesson' on this for the past year! Now facing surgery to repair it 25 years later. Why didn't they just tack the bladder in it's proper place while they were doing the hysterectomy in the first place so it would not Prolapse years later?
My cousin is a breast cancer survivor, and gave, ran, etc for K, once educated by me NO longer funds or walks for the K foundation. We are both committed Christians.
Old ladies walk they don’t run, and we both are that.
Is anyone actually surprised?
LOL, I knew they would. I feel sorry for all of you sent money to them as a show of support. At least, with this out in the open, my wife and I won’t have to spend as much time explaining why we don’t make any donations to them or support them in any way, even though my wife is a breast cancer survivor.

I quit supporting this group sometime ago.
I consider life a gift and in this day and age cannot
understand the use of abortion for any kind of birth control.
I can understand the main three exceptions and can live with that but anything else I just don’t think so.

In recent years I've avoided "pink ribbon" grocery items, even of products I normally buy.
Are you talking about the three main exceptions to abortion, rape, incest and life of the Mother?
I find those reasonable.
The whole country now knows they’re joined at the hip to Margaret Sanger’s death machine. I look forward to seeing to seeing a lot less pink running ribbons at the grocery store this October. And now, any company that sponsors Komen in anyway gets a lifetime ban from me.
