Komen for the Cure just released the following statement from Nancy Brinker and the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors:
We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives.
The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not.
Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation. We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.
Our only goal for our granting process is to support women and families in the fight against breast cancer. Amending our criteria will ensure that politics has no place in our grant process. We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities.

What did the baby do to deserve to be killed by abortion?
Poor Megan isn’t very creative. Once taken off her talking points, her arguments fall apart. But she was entertaining for her very short stay as a FReeper.
I would think FRetiquette would call for permission from the originator of the FReepmail,. But I know of a few FReepers who were sending out some pretty bad stuff about FR to large lists of FReepers, were banned, and their FReepmails were published on the forum.
Yep. Here’s mine:
Re: Komen apologizes for ‘recent decisions,’ pledges to continue funding Planned Parenthood

Komen was right to reverse course. Having an abortion is a decision that should be made between a woman and her doctor. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STAY OUT!

Megan, let’s just call a spade a spade. This “abortion” kills a baby in a very brutal way. Maybe YOUR baby. Are you really saying this is OK? :^(
This entire fiasco is putting the lie to these foundations.
We were told that we need a cure for breast cancer. And we were told that one of the main reasons we were not finding a cure is that researchers do not have enough money. We are told to contribute, to obtain sponsors to pay us when we run marathons, all to donate money to find a cure.
Now we find out that Komen has so much money they can afford to give it out to BIG-BUSINESSES that have absolutely nothing to do with finding a cure.
Either Komen is mis-managing their money, or their true intent is not to find a cure, or they have more money than they really know how to spend.
And why did Komen not come out directly and say, “There is evidence of a link between abortion and breast cancer. Because of that, we cannot ask for money for breast-cancer research and fund a BIG BUSINESS that provides abortions, which may well be leading to breast cancer.”
I got it too. I was just coming here to find out if others got it. I didn’t even get a chance to respond to her talking point - she was banned. Oh well.
Komen runs the Death To The Unborn March...right? For every step people take they are crushing the unborn into the dust. Pathetic, isn’t it?
Komen is going to hold a big fundraising marathon in the Dallas area.. good time for billboards, protesters on that route IMO.
I hope people cancel those checks and paypal donations
This was banner headlines in the Dallas paper slamming Komen for cutting off the funds.
sickening.
Rape and incest do not change the fact that the unborn child is a human being. And the last, Life of the Mother? Quite often that includes the woman just telling her Dr that she is not emotionally stable enough to go through with it, or I do not feel well, I am stressed, I am at the end of my rope etc etc
Was not trying to pick a fight with you. There was a really nice young girl on tv recently with her mother, the mother had been raped, and the daughter is so glad that her mother did not abort her.
Also look no further than Tebow :)
This is what I told her:
Post your comment on the thread, not Freepmail.
Besides, if you cant murder your mother, why should your mother be allowed to murder you?
You were nit together in your mother’s womb and given the opportunity to live, breath and send those FRmails. Not sure why you commented the way you did. I’m sorry if you have ever made that catastrophic decision. Guilt of conscience will either humble you before the living God, asking forgiveness (1 John 1), or it will harden your heart and soul to the Truth and drive you to try to smother your conscience in pro-abortion rhetoric. Please reconsider.
I’ll pray for you.
Exactly! Komen gets a lot of money from corporations run by liberal yuppies. I was surprised when they stopped funding PP; I'm not at all surprised they caved when they realized that decision would get them snubbed at cocktail parties and the country club.
Like you, until today, I wasn't aware the ACS was involved with PP.
After a particularly bad relapse last summer, I started on the Myhill Protocol, which has helped tremendously, but the best part has been that after going on it and doing different testing, they've finally discovered what (I hope) is the problem. At first they thought I had been exposed to toxic VOCs (which I have been), but then they discovered a deep-seated infection that has been festering in my sinus for over 8 years. I'm not out of the woods yet, but getting better. The good news is that my thyroid has been bouncing back like a champion... and for five or so years, I had been led to believe that my thyroid was shot.
What you will not ever see come to light in the media and perhaps has not been made known much is that abortion may have a direct connection to actually causing breast cancer. Now, because of all the bully tactics of the anti-life brigade, Komen, which was started to help women prevent and treat breast cancer, is now being forced into paying an organization that not only promotes and performs a majority of the abortions in this country, but is contributing to one of the causes of breast cancer!
I’m with you on that!
