So.... it really isn't about Mitt's electability (which is so bogus -- as well as the claim he is the only one who can help the GOP ticket down the line) -- no, it's about the GOP Establishment being able to control Mitt because he (according to Jonah Goldberg) doesn't have a conservative ideological (or any) core and can be programmed by them on how to govern.
This certainly ranks up there as a bottom of the barrel argument to convince us to vote for Mitt Romney.
Jonah is usually not this stupid.
Yep. The establishment wants a robot they can program to carry out their bidding.
This is the same reason Obama got into office as well.
gawd,the author is naively stupid
I like Jonah Goldberg but this is pure garbage.
Mitt is mean to dogs and he is not worried about poor people.
That is why he will never be president.
Every word mittens has ever spoken since 20something says ‘What they’ll have me do’ instead of ‘What I WILL do’.
America doesn’t like spineless Presidents, but they sure will vote for them.
National RINOReview wants mitt.
Wants McCain/Dole/Bush II/Ford, too.
BFD.
I’m amazed to see such idiocy coming out of Jonah Goldberg.
Yesterday, I read in the WSJ editorial that they were prepared to spend the next months explaining what Romney “really meant” in his stupid utterances (and they clearly expect this to be a pattern) and that he was better than what he said. They’re prepared to run interference for him the way the other media ran interference for the idiot Joe Biden.
Why don’t people just look at the reality of the man, which is not very good but very liberal, and believe that he makes stupid utterances because that’s what he really thinks and the way he thinks it and no, he can’t be retrofitted.
Jonah’s rumination would have made sense if Romney thinks he owes his election to the voters. But, as pointed out by these wise FReepers - HE OWES THE GOP ESTABLISHMENT!!!!
The only return to ‘for the people, by the people’ is a true second Party; beginning with the TEA movement and disillusioned Independents.
It will take years of recruiting and organization - in baby steps - but our children and grandchildren may witness such a revolution.
I read the article differently. Given that mitt will be the nominee, what do you do then? And in my view, that’s pretty much where we’re at. Not a popular view at FR to be sure, but that’s how I see it.
Mr. Goldberg has fails to make the case for mitt very well. I still don’t see any good reason to vote for mitt in the primaries or the general. How would mitt end up being a better President in the long run than barky would be as a lame duck?
He doesn't stand a chance. He's gonna roll over and play nice rino. Just like Awful Dull, and Juan Mc Lame.
There's not gonna be a president Romney. He's not a NBC either.
LLS
I thought the ‘on a very short leash’ was idiotic, too. Mittens isn’t ON a leash. He’s in a lap. A warm, comfy lap that he has no intention of jumping off.
He is calling for Romney the “fix it” man. LOL...
We don’t need a ‘fix it’ guy!!!!
Why are they so scared of somebody giving the American people the tools to fix our own problems?
Liberal Fascism Jonah...liberal fascism. Useful idiot.
Their FR wannabe website is made up of nothing but Rombots.
