If youre an independent voter or Democrat who is getting a bit tired of the Internet powerhouse Drudge Reports political positioning of news items and/or have been turned off by some of its big news scoops that didnt quite pan out in terms of the HUGE HEADLINES (the ones that have simply vanished off the site with no explanation) there are alternatives. Or, if youre a Drudge fan and like that format and are looking for others that you can visit and get a news summary at a quick glance there are some excellent alternatives.
Even if you ARE a huge Drudge fan, youll like the format of these and I encourage you to add them to your bookmark list:
HINESSIGHT: It bills itself as The Anti-Drudge and can be truly addicting.
BUZZFLASH REPORT: A longtime, highly popular site on the left that not only is a news aggregator but has a lot of original liberal-oriented posts.
Drudge Retort: The name and format speak for itself. Its design is identical but its coming from a different space politically. Has an excellent list of links to other sites as well.
NEWSER: Summaries of news stories, constantly updated. In its design and content, its one that will hook you so you visit several times a day.
If you read all of these and the original Drudge, you get a good, quick feel for the big stories that are breaking.

Given that Matt himself is gay, why shouldn't he be on that side of the issue?
I was so tired of the anti-Newt stuff that I sent him a note in his news tip. I then left Drudge for a while. If I find something better, I will report back.
BTTT
Buzzflash is a daily compilation of far-left dementia
Hinessight looks to be a liberal leaning version of Drudge.
bkmk
THANK YOU!!! I will not give Drudge another click.
If they don’t pan out, no worry, FR has all the news, commentary and miscellany, often sooner than Drudge. I hope someday it has video, or a tv station of its own.
Newt has to be the most despised politician that ever graced DC. WTH is going on?
I am getting used to the http://www.newser.com look. Of course there is http://www.newsmax.com as well that is good to look and see what they say since they have a bias that is probably close to what Sean Hannity types like.
here are a few more http://www.moreofit.com/similar-to/drudgereport.com/Top_10_Sites_Like_Drudgereport/
me too
He pushed the party elites to stick to a conservative platform aggressively and relentlessly, sometimes with tactics that embarrassed them deeply. And he was successful doing it for a long time, rising in popularity and power. Every time they say he only cared about “himself” you have to read that as the spin it is. It means he only cared about the American people and not about making nice and cutting deals with the party elites, insiders and Beltway crowd.
I’m not sure what other endorsement he should need beside this one:
Michael Reagan: “Newt became a leading ally of my father, Ronald Reagan. He helped Congress push through massive tax cuts. He worked to secure a military buildup that helped defeat the Soviet Union. Under his leadership Congress also limited the welfare state... As a leader in the Reagan Revolution, Gingrich began to confront both Democrats and Republicans in Congress for their cozy insider deals... Gingrich led the most reform-minded Congress in America... He has helped keep my father’s legacy alive.”
I suggest everyone go to the links on Drudge and paste this in the comments section. People need to know he appears to have a biased perspective that is inconsistent with mainstream conservatism.

Drudge: I Do Not Love Sex With Men
4/6/2009
Drudge has never been said to particularly relish his homosexuality or embrace it; in fact his gay romantic/sexual side has been described (when alleged) as conflicted and awkward.
David Brock, the former right-wing writer, wrote in his memoir Blinded by the Right about a scary date in which Drudge, after bringing Brock flowers and navigating the Santa Monica gay strip like a pro, stepped on a competing suitors foot really hard (in Drudges purported words) in a nightclub to scare him away from Brock.
Alec Baldwin stated that Drudge made an advance on him in an ABC Studios hallway, a proposition that had kind of a creepy quality to it.
Drudge denied he was gay to the Miami New Times in 2001, even as he launched into a disquisition on (as the New Times put it) the reigning DJ king of gay circuit parties and summarized his nightlife thusly: I go to straight bars, I go to gay bars.
Thanks for Newser. I’ll give it a whirl. Yowzer!
Everyone should be aware of refdesk.com- It includes a large number of links to newspapers, and many other news sources. A great alternative to drudge.
