Anne Coulter pal Matt Drudge has declared all out war on the Gingrich campaign. As of 7am Eastern time he has 9 negative mentions about Newt (none on Romney):

There are rules here and if you support RINO Romney then piss off as he has the establishment, talking heads like Coulter Rove, Hume etc, He has sites like Drudge.

Maybe some people feel that their view is the bee all, end all due to their arrogance.

Personally I like this site and I will go by the rules I see no reason to go to a sites which advocates what I do not want as it only will get me banned and get into arguments.

To me, Defining a real Republican is easy. Do they follow the party platform? Sure, you have a bit of variance, but following the platform is the entire freaking point of belonging to a political party.

It's glaringly obvious now that Drudge and Coulter both are bought and paid for hired guns for Romney, and therefore, the GOP establishment. Everyone on FR should be against that.

If there is evidence that Ann Coulter and Matt Drudge are accepting payoffs from the Romney campaign, that would make a very interesting news story. While it's disappointing that Drudge is running all these anti-Newt articles, I don't believe that starting false rumors is a reasonable response. Finding a better source of news does sound like a reasonable response. Newsbusters seems like a good source, and I love Jodi Miller's videos, but even Newsbusters doesn't seem totally unbiased. They have this (also disappointing) cartoon on their home page (the comment below it is excellent):

National Public Radio had an article this morning where some guy was praising Romney. He opined that those of us who support Newt do so for emotional reasons, and that if we were thinking logically, we would go for Romney. I had to laugh, remembering the old saying "The flak gets thicker as you approach the target."

As for unity , ARF screw that, we did that in 2008 and got us no where.

Romney has barely broken 28% and then only a few occasions. As a frontrunner, from a traffic point of view, that’s a big yawn.

Not really sure "from a traffic point of view" people care about national polling percentages. The 28% is misleading and virtually meaningless in a multi-person and multi-state race. And of course it's only the early states that matter at this point. The remaining ones will likely fall like dominoes if a candidate gets off to a good start, no matter what the national polls may have previously indicated.

Any way you look at it,Romney has always been seen as the true frontrunner by people who closely follow politics and the only question was whether someone could knock him off. And given his huge fundraising advantage and establishment backing, that was always seen as a tough task. Perhaps the media could have played up that angle (can Romney be knocked off? what are his vulnerabilities? what do the other candidates need to do to catch up?), but they haven't as far as i've seen. Instead they have played up the surges by any conservative candidate in order to provide an excuse to bring out the heavy artillery against them.

I will grant that Gingrich is a much more compelling figure than Romney. But then, who isn't? But i think there is more to it than that.
