Newt Gingrich, responding Wednesday to comments from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi that he has no shot at winning the presidency, said his campaign makes his former House colleague and other Democrats “hysterical.” “As my campaign has gotten stronger, the attacks have become more hysterical and more factually incorrect,” Mr. Gingrich said in an interview Wednesday with The Washington Times-affiliated “America's Morning News” radio program. Mrs. Pelosi, who served on the House Ethics Committee when it reprimanded Mr. Gingrich in 1997, referenced that investigation when she offered up similar comments about Mr. Gingrich last month. Mr Gingrich challenged Mrs. Pelosi to “put up or shut up.” “I have no idea what she’s talking about, I don’t think she has any idea what she’s talking about. But bring it on,” the GOP presidential front-runner told hosts John McCaslin and Dana Mills. “When you’re a left-wing Democrat, the prospect of a Gingrich presidency is really sort of like a nightmare. And they’re right. My goal is to go to Washington to change it, not just to get along with the old order.” Mrs. Pelosi, like Mr. Gingrich a former speaker of the House, said on CNN this week that a Gingrich presidency “will never happen.” Asked how she could be so confident, the California Democrat said, without further explanation: “There’s something I know.”

With regard to Pelosi, I wish Gingrich would just say something like: “Anyone who has attained the position of Speaker of the House, and then tells the American people in all seriousness that ‘we must pass the bill so we can find out what’s in it,’ is not someone that American voters should ever take seriously about anything.”

There are 2 questions that can be asked with Pelosi teasing everyone with this “I know something stuff”
Question 1 - Does she really have something?
Question 2 - Who do the Dems want to face in the general?
By my logic, (for what’s worth), there are 4 scenarios to this.
1. If she really had something on Newt and the Dems would rather face Newt in the general, then there would be no tease at this time. She would have waited until Oct to say anything about Newt.
2. If she really had something on Newt and the Dems would rather face Romney in the general, she would have spilled her guts on Newt and we would already know all the details.
3. If she has nothing, and the Dems still prefer to face Newt in the general, nothing gets brought up at all.
4. If she has nothing, and the Dems prefer to face Romney, then she teases with a bogus story about Newt to send a message to primary voters that something will come out in Oct on Newt if he’s the nominee.
So, I say it’s scenario #4 above that just played out.

Well the speech was pretty good but Mitchie the Stiff delivered it with all the charisma and appeal of a walnut. Now the GOP establishment wants to try to trot this poor slob out as a presidential candidate.
They are so desparately afraid of Newt Gingrich getting nominated they will do anything to stop him. You are so right that the GOP establishment is totally obsessed with keeping the status quo of their cushy jobs, salaries and power base. The last thing they want is a president who is committed to actually cutting the size and scope of government.
Agree Ga girl, the establishment are clinging to their power, money and corruption and to hell with us out in the real world and especially down here in the south.
They think after living there for so long the north east and the beltway is America and it is not.
Pundits like Coulter, Hannity , Rove, national review etc see their jobs at risk and think if Newt gets this then they are not invited to the white house.
