On his income taxes released today, we see that Romney gave $4 Million tithe donations to Mormon Church. Do Mormons help poor Americans with these donations? Do the Mormons have something similar to Catholic Charities, which helps thousands of Americans (both Catholic and non-Catholics) with basic life needs, medical help, childcare help, education help, etc. The main question is do Mormons use the $4 Million from Romney to ONLY advance the Mormon religion without helping the American poor. Does Romney even know or care what the Mormon Church does with his $4 Million donation? I think that is a fair question.
What a stupid liberal question. Who cares..? Morally self righteous bunk.
Its his money he can do with it what he pleases.
If he wants to give it to the Elvis Presley fan club or the Lawrence welk museum so be it.
If he wants to put 10% in a big pile and simply burn it, that is fine too.
I think he was just asking a question.
I don’t think any church or organization, charitable or not, should be exempt from any taxes. I don’t want to support most of them, and I don’t expect other people to support my my church or favored organizations. Every organization should have to pay all applicable taxes.

And your point is?
Who cares?
This is a free country. Conservatives can ask anything we want to ask. There is no “conservative question litmus test”. Of course, Romney can do whatever he wants to with his money and charities. I just asked an honest question if Romney knew or influenced where the $4 Million gets spent. I wanted to shine light on whether Romney gives $4 Million with his eyes open or closed.
Another mormon bashing thread. I’d hit the abuse button, but it’s obvious the owner allows them.
Yeah, you nailed it. I never have seen a Mormon Hospital, they spend their cash on large sacred temples to make a forever wedding, so the guy can have as many brides in Heaven as he seals in their mystical ceremonies. But they do help there own. First Hand experience and eye witnesses on a dozen occasions. It’s NOT like they are the Savlation Army.
Muslims can take my head and Mormons can take my coffee but neither can take my soul.
“As I understand it, the Mormon church has as strong a relief program for its members as does any religious institution.”
I am a Methodist and we don’t have that for OUR members nor did PCUSA. The relief program goes to help the general population.
I agree.
Tax exempt status for churches is a way for the federal government to control what they say.
I don’t care what Mittens does with his spare change, as long as he never becomes president, and the Mormons leave me alone.
It is the giver who is the real winner.
geez that is science in search results - I put in “crap in public” and found 35,000,000 hits. What does a search engine mean in the reality of life? Do all the things written about conservatives found in search engine end up as the truth or are they full of stuff from the left? Mormons as we may have know them in the 50’s or even later are not the same as they are today. they divorace rate and many other stats are nearly the same as evangelical Christians...24%. So they have some weird people in their faith, have you ever watched TV and seen who is talking about Christ? Does that make evangilicals the same as them?
I think it’s a valid question. Did Romney give the money in order to help the poor or help the church? Did he help his standing in the church?
If I had $4 million to give, it sure as Hell wouldn’t go to the Methodist Church because they would use it to lobby for liberal causes. Even UMCOR is a little shaky sometimes.
If a politician have $4M to Scientology, I would worry because Scientology does little to benefit anyone but themselves (not comparing LDS to SC)
And these are things you think about?
