Rand Paul in Pat-Down Standoff With TSA in Nashville
ABC News ^ | 1/23/12 | Sunlen Miller

Posted on 01/23/2012 8:18:01 AM PST by Kartographer

Sen. Rand Paul told his communications director this morning he was being detained by TSA in Nashville. @moirabagley, the Twitter account associated with Paul staffer Moira Bagley tweeted around 10 a.m., ET, “Just got a call from @senrandpaul. He’s currently being detained by TSA in Nashville.” A spokesman for TSA said the agency was looking into the matter but could not immediately comment. Paul apparently set off an airport security full-body scanner, “on a glitch,” a spokesman in Paul’s office told ABC News. The Paul staffer said TSA agents would not let Paul walk back through the body scanner and were demanding, according to the staffer, a full body pat-down.

What does a Muslim look like? They are not all middle-eastern men.

And, weapons are not the only thing they are looking for - we have drugs, stolen jewels, weapon-making components, biological media, as well as large amounts of drug 'cash' moving through the airports. Top 10 Catches in 2011

How was he endangering anyone? He offered to go back through the scanner again. All he did was to refuse the invasive pat down. He even lifted up his pant leg to show them there was nothing there...

Sorry, but I don't want some TSA scumbag feeling me or my family up either. People have lost teeth for less...

If anyone thinks these TSA clowns are keeping America safe from the Mooslime killers, think again. The TDS routinely has failed to find training explosives and guns (and some missed REAL guns). This is when they aren't stealing from the traveling customer's luggage. I real feel safer now! Here's a thought: PROFILE like the Israelis do and copy their techniques. The Israelis now how to do airport security.

By and large - most of them are people who are just trying to do their job, to the best of their ability - to earn a living.

I have heard something like this before, oh, that's right, at the Nuremberg trials! "Hey, i was just doing my job."

If your job is to thwart and violate other American's rights, then you are in the WRONG JOB!

I travel by plane as little as possible, but when I do, I always opt-out because I get two to three x-rays every year at the VA hospital, I don't need anymore radiation in my body! But, when asked if I want a "private pat down," I always say, as loudly as possible, "If you are going to violate my Constitutional rights, then I want everyone in this terminal to watch you as a witness!"

If only that statement were true. A quick perusal of the actions of any other Federal Agency will show that the TSA is acting EXACTLY like the others.

What our government has become, that is the anomaly.

Good. As long as ALL have to be groped. . .like TSA employees as well as everyone else.

TSA employees are one step above criminals, and in many cases, criminals themselves.

And a TSA goon is very likely to bring into an airport secure area weapons and bombs and drugs. . .more so than some Senator or serviceman or a guy that has had a Top Secret clearance for over 20-yrs (with counter-poly’s), and even you. . .so, have the TSA stripped searched before reporting to work. . .and take away their head-of-the-line “right” when traveling off-duty.

And lets take away weapons from the flying federal marshal program. . .after all, THEY might go off. . .and with the influx of muslime agents into the FBI and marshal’s, they are more likely than anyone else to go postal. . .

NO EXCEPTIONS to the TSA grope.

NO EXCEPTIONS. . .too include the president, congress, federal over-lords. . . too include DHS senior executives.

Or we could just drop the whole thing and recognize the flying public is actually the one’s doing the Air Marshal’s and TSA’s job now. . .

TSA goons are just that. . .goons. I fly over 150,00 miles a year, domestically and internationally, and TSA is the worst in the entire world.

They are unprofessional and in some places, actively incompetent. . .Detroit, Dulles and Wash-Reagan, for example. Especially Wash-Reagan.

Profile, profile, profile. . .that is smart policing.

Muslime traveling? You bet you profile.

Muslime traveling in full garb. . .heck yea profile.

TSA takes away small knives at the TSA check-point but then the airlines ISSUE First Class passengers steel knives and steel forks when they are served dinner. . .TSA policy is to take away knives but the airlines issue them. Makes perfect sense. And pilots are put through the same nonsense as everyone else. . .and they fly the jet. They can fly the jet or crash the jet. . .and they also have an axe in the cockpit. . .but yet, we strip-search them too. Makes perfect sense if you are a TSA goon.

Not only are TSA goons, they are stupid goons.

A muslim doesn't look like a 7 year old child, or an old lady in a wheel chair.

Israel screens passengers with detailed background information and questioning, followed by secondary questioning in appropriate cases. That is a start; it is only one part of what is needed when confronting jihadis that are at war with you. What is not appropriate is making the American people prisoners of the TSA in order to acclimate them to the coming socialist state.

Imagine if in WW2, we had unlimited German immigration, and decided to secure our sensitive facilities by making all Americans suspects, subject to strip search and detention. That is the lunacy we are facing now because politically correct idiots insist on unlimited Muslim immigration AND on political correctness that forbids profiling.

If you are flying while Muslim, you should expect some enhanced scrutiny. Blame your coreligionists, or better yet, join something that is not a death cult. Don't expect Baptists to endure a groping fat TSA lady putting her mitts up your bunghole.

"How would you propose we stop them?

How about we don't let them come to our country and we don't let them get on our airplanes? And how about concealed carry on the airplane? And how about returning security to privately owned airlines and privately owned airports?

Absolutely agree. My brother-in-law is a Capt for a large international airline; he got guff at Security for his fingernail clipper. He had the perfect response. He demanded the Security Supervisor's supervisor - and asked him why, as the pilot of an aircraft - why a fingernail clipper would be an endangerment to the aircraft. Public humilation is a powerful teaching device.

How about we don't let them come to our country and we don't let them get on our airplanes?

And what about those who are US citizens? Or does freedom of religion only apply to Jews, Hindu, Christians and select other religions? Besides, do you think that a Muslim bent upon the murder of 100+ people, just might lie about his religion of choice?

And how about concealed carry on the airplane?

No problem with that. I like that idea.

And how about returning security to privately owned airlines and privately owned airports?

And private security would fix what problem? Are private security firms any more secure, are they any less prone to smuggling drugs? I would like to THINK (and perhaps I'm wrong here) that a US Agent, violating the law, would be punished more severly than a private citizen.

Non-Sequitur, your facts are uncoordinated.

Look, a metal detector should be about the limit, and beyond that there is about nothing anyone can do to stop a determined person from smuggling a non metallic weapon aboard that cannot be detected by any method currently in use, so your arguments ring hollow to me.

Aside from the primary reason for these unconstitutional searches, your other reasons have no bearing on why this is currently being done, and if those reasons are being given to justify these searches, that insanity is also unconstitutional.

Any way you look at it, allowing this garbage is bad and sets a bad precedent. Now you have TSA goons setting up this crap at bus terminals, train stations, subways and who knows where next.

This BS will be expanded eventually and is simply being used to normalize people to such unconstitutional acts. This much is obvious.

What is the alternative? I don't have all the answers, but such alternatives must either be constitutional or we take our chances.

I'd prefer an armed agent or two aboard any flight (expensive but constitutional) over the BS that is being perpetrated upon us currently.

All you need to know is that TSA is so retarded they suspected a US Senator of being a domestic terrorist and demanded to grab his crotch! They are perverts and retards.

Yep. Rosa Park’s canonization is similar to MLK’s canonization (and JFK’s and countless other libs). Those who idolize them conveniently forget the facts. I’m still astounded by the love (and misinformation) posted here about MLK, Jr.

Like you, I gave up my seat on public transportation for old people, infirmed people, pregnant mothers, and mothers with kids...I’ve taught my kids the same but thankfully we don’t live in an area where we and they have to deal with this daily. But when we do, they know the right thing to do. You give up your seat when a pregnant woman, a woman with kids, an older person gets on the bus. My kids experienced this in Disney World and they got right up to offer their seats.

Maybe it’s different for me since I grew up in the city in the late 60s, 70s and 80s. I don’t have an ounce of white guilt, liberal guilt, in my entire body. I wasn’t raised by my blue collar parents to resent people with money (I was raised to WORK to achieve). I got out of the city and once my youngest is out of high school we will get out of this NJ affluent suburb we can’t afford to live in...and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Nice pic. We ain’t there yet but we are so close it isn’t even funny.

I can give you some anecdotal stories...first hand accounts...of my oldest daughter, now 21, who from the time she was 13 whenever we travelled was pulled out of line for inspection/pat down, her bags checked, etc. I didn’t think it was a big deal, and always thought she was being used to train others since of course she wasn’t a threat in any way so it was an easy training session. Especially since the last time we travelled as a family of six, two adults and four kids, the ticket agent for the airline asked who the oldest kid was, and it was my oldest who was 15/16 at the time. Then when we went through airport security, she was immediately pulled out of line (and me with her since she was a minor). Since she and I had already been through this, it wasn’t a big deal really. But she got the pat down, and thankfully the woman doing it was aware of how patting down a teenage girl was intrusive to a teenage girl, and her mother, and she was very solicitous. The entire time she was training another person and making sure I saw and understood everything while trying her best to make my daughter less anxious with it.

Four years later, my oldest went on her senior trip to Disney, and her checked luggage was searched, with a note of course. I think she’s on a list, a list for training or something. We haven’t flown as a family since Jan 2007 and I don’t know when we will again but I think when we do, she or one of my kids will be pulled out of security line for inspection.
