Sen. Rand Paul told his communications director this morning he was being detained by TSA in Nashville. @moirabagley, the Twitter account associated with Paul staffer Moira Bagley tweeted around 10 a.m., ET, Just got a call from @senrandpaul. Hes currently being detained by TSA in Nashville. A spokesman for TSA said the agency was looking into the matter but could not immediately comment. Paul apparently set off an airport security full-body scanner, on a glitch, a spokesman in Pauls office told ABC News. The Paul staffer said TSA agents would not let Paul walk back through the body scanner and were demanding, according to the staffer, a full body pat-down.

I like Rand. I hate the TSA. It’s hard not to make a thoughtful comment without knowing more.
If only Rand could hijack the entire TSA and put them on the southern border....
I never, ever, allow them to use the full body scanner. I’ve been patted down dozens of times and even failed one and they had to do the “private room” thing. Apparently my trip to the feed store to pay my monthly storage bill had set it off.
I did apologize to the guy doing the patting for the wood.
"The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."
Maybe this is event that will finally bring sanity.
Doin' the TSA Tango is almost as good as a lap dance?
“DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!?”
That was Rick Perry’s line to the DPS officer a few years ago.
ROFLMAO. Maybe they’ll make a wand that detects wood.
Whoa! TSA bit it big time.
The TSA were unimpressed with my “position” in the FBS as my arthritic fingers cramped into positions they disapproved of.
I travel a bit, went through a full body scanner and the glitch hit me. The panel the guard can see, will show where the ‘glitch’ is. There is a stick figure broken into zones. The zones are head, torso, right shoulder/arm, left shoulder/arm, waist to thigh, left thigh, right thigh, left knee to foot, and right knee to foot.
These zones are mirrored again on the back of the stick figure.
Apparently my ‘glitch’ was on my front right thigh - the agent was professional, touched me with his fingers spread, and made a single sweep from my front pocket down to my knee - took all of 3 seconds and I was out of there. If you want to make a scene; I guess you can make a scene - and be detained by the TSA.
“I was chust followink orders”.
This would happen to any of us who refuse the patdown. I am glad that Paul did what I would want to do if I ever decide to fly again...which won’t be before the next election...hopefully things will change. It’s all a bunch of bullcrap and solves nothing.
Its obvious Paul poses a significant hijack or terrorism threat. Carry on, TSA.
Why should he get special treatment?
A sitting US Senator....really? The TSA has lost it....
