Yesterday morning on Fox, Chris Wallace was being interviewed about the SC results. The discussuion turned to the effects of the debates and whether Romney would agree to more debates than are already scheduled. Wallace said something to the effect: Gingrich is so much better a debater, Romney would be a fool to agree to fight on his turf, to reach across the aisle, so to speak. I can't remember Wallace's exact words, but my reaction was: that's why we can't nominate him ---- because he WOULD BE foolish enough, if elected, to govern from the dems turf. I'm sure Wallace didn't intend to put an exclamatiopn point on Romney's weakness as a Reupblican, but he succeeded. If anyone has access to the program (it was, I think, between 8 and 8:30 EST), maybe you could shed some more exact light.
Romney is a taller, slightly better looking Dukakis. Both lack the charisma and appeal to be elected president.
Why is anyone interviewing and interviewer anyway?
The RINOs fight on the Democrat’s turf because that’s where the RINOs live in the first place. In this campaign, of the remaining candidates, only Newt has shown the cajones to challenge the liberal establishment and turn the fight onto conservative turf.
As a typical standard-issue Republican, Romney wouldnt have the heart or the courage to take the fight to the president, but instead would debate around the edges, and lose. (Michael Walsh, "The Stupid Party")
"The people" know this instinctively when they see Romney ... and his actions/words bear it out. This is why they prefer Newt - he will debate the heart of the matter, gloves off.
great debaters do not great presidents make!
Romney’s loyalty list is Bain, Mormon church, family. Love of America isn’t a factor at all. He’s an obedient Bain loyalist that will help Bain loot America and leave us bankrupt just like Bain’s other targets. If the Republicans held the presidency right now, Romney would have switched sides to the Democrats. The objective is to get in at any and all cost. He will say or do anything to meet this objective. He sold his soul to Bain a long time ago.
Having a core and a base, and being able to articulate it, is probably not enough, on its own, to make a person a great leader. The contents of that vision also matter, as does commitment to it, simple honesty, etc. It's darn difficult to "lead" a group of people who distrust you.
Being a lousy debater is not a disqualifier, either, IMO.
We don't need a "great president," padre. We just need somebody who will throw wooden shoes in the right gears to stop the leviathan!
Lincoln?
He won the nomination in 1860 by debating one of the best politicians in the country to a standstill. Horace Greeley made him a national figure by publishing the Lincoln-Douglas debates in his New York paper.
I didn't know we were still speaking Latin.
He was channeling Yoda.
Newt can beat Smarmy Romney if he stays on message and swipes aside the personal attacks made on him.
The enemy is OBAMA and liberalism. Now is the time for the pendulum to swing in the other direction.
Chris Wallace is a less competent version of his DEMOCRAT LIBERAL father, Mike Wallace. His advice was to Romney and intended to assist him in beating Gingrich so that Obama and the MSM crew (Chris included) can tear him down.
Chris Wallace can suck it.
Not to mention the jeans wearing (trying to look like the common man), stammering, position changing, socialist medicine creator, and anti-conservative is really a Mitt Head.
>>Why is anyone interviewing an interviewer anyway?<<
Why, it’s obvious: because they had journalists interviewing journalists on the three previous segments!
lol
I think Mitt would be OK if the nation was doing well—he would be a lackluster leader and maybe do a few good things—just not the right guy for the crisis we are in now—Maybe as VP? We need bold ideas and I think Newt could do it—Not Reagan but a bit like Sam Houston, or maybe a Truman or Calvin Coolidge. I think he speaks for Americans who want a change back to the America we once were—He might do it.
