Fellow Conservative,
Americans have been down this road before.
At various times both parties nominated boring candidates because they were considered "electable". In every one of those cases, they weren't electable at all. Now Republicans are again thinking about nominating another bland and boring candidate for President Mitt Romney.
If we don't love our candidate, how can we expect Democrats and Independents to?
We must stop him in South Carolina with a BOLD conservative who can contrast himself starkly with President Obama and inspire Americans to vote for him.
In the South Carolina polls, I am running just behind Romney and am poised to defeat him. I need your support to close the deal.
Since 1980, every Republican nominee has won South Carolina.
Bursting onto the scene in Iowa, conservatives reacted to my emergence as the conservative challenger to Mitt Romney by pouring in over $3 million to my campaign. Now, South Carolina polls have me within striking distance of Mitt Romney- who has committed millions in ads to the state already.
I urgently need your support so we can match Mitt Romneys spending dollar for dollar in South Carolina. Your donation of $30, $50 or $75 is the difference between a South Carolina victory and 4 more years of President Obama. The days are numbered to make an impact.
Support Rick to help close the deal.
My record as a national conservative leader:
Co-wrote the Contract with America
Led the fight to reform welfare
Sponsored the bill banning partial birth abortion
Authored legislation imposing strong sanctions against Iran
As President, I will repeal Obamacare, re-write the tax code, and end Barack Obamas unprecedented interference in our economy. And I will pursue a bold economic plan that the Wall Street Journal calls bolder than Mr. Romneys.
Are you ready to join me?
Republicans cant afford a nominee who is unable to withstand the blistering attacks of Barack Obamas billion dollar campaign or even worse resemble Obama so much that he can't barely be distinguished from him.
With a clear record of results, I give the GOP the best chance to defeat Obama and put a conservative in the White House.
Be a part of this historic campaign by donating just $35. I will make your voice heard in Washington!
Sincerely,
Rick Santorum
P.S. If you've been holding out and waiting to make up your mind than now is the time. We must stop Romney in South Carolina. We must unite and guarantee a conservative standard bearer in 2012. We are poised for victory in South Carolina. Help us today to continue to build momentum with the most generous donation you can afford. If you cannot afford to give or have done so already, will you consider sharing this email with your family and friends?
I am totally realistic. I look at data and evidence, always. I understand there are sometimes real enemies that you have to kill. So does Ron Paul. Ron Paul, for example, was just about the only public figure to stand up for Israel when they destroyed the Iraqi nuclear reactor.
How do you know the world won’t leave us alone till you try?
If you try and it works you will save trillions and many lives, and make the country much much stronger strategically because right now it is bleeding out financially and that is what is going to kill us.
Our enemies cite specific grudges, such as our bases in Saudi Arabia and our support for Israel. I love Israel, but they can stand on their own. They are way stronger than their enemies. How do you know our enemies are lying about what they are fighting us for? Even if they are lying, might it not be hard for them to do us nearly as much damage as we are doing ourselves fighting? Might they not have trouble finding ways to attack us or people willing to die once their lies are exposed and we are not
occupying territory they claim?
Why are you so confident foreigners won’t leave us alone if we come home and carry a big stick? We’ve never tried it in decades. And by the way, it pretty much worked right up through Pearl Harbor. And right now, we are suffering many 9/11s in cost every year, and headed for another war that will kill many 9/11’s worth too.
I’m a total realist, and a former hawk. I’ve been persuaded by events and facts. What’s your evidence? If you really have some, you can persuade me back.
Linda, I believe what I believe based upon history. You are a Utopian. Soft thinking will lead to our destruction. Paul would have railed against America’s involvement against Japan and Germany, if history could literally repeat. The fact that millions of Americans think like you is depressing beyond description.
We have a Marxist trying to ravage our nation, and you have guys like Paul diverting attention by focusing on America’s “transgressions, real and imagined. The fact that he says that understands why Iran is building nukes should enrage every person. He attacks everyone but Romney and Obama. He is successfully destroying conservatism. Many of his supporters think the guy walks on water, and it’s sickening. Bob
His district’s pork has quadrupled since 1999. Bob
One more thing: Ron Paul doesn’t have the courage to appear on Glenn Beck and Mark Levin. The guy is afraid to face tough questions. YES, he has a standing invitation on both shows. Bob
“When you argue with a fool you look like a fool”, Paul is smart not to engage beck and levin.
Obviously! LOL If I held Paul’s views on foreign affairs, I’d hide under my blanket rather than face those guys.
For the record, I don’t think that Linda is a “fool”. I do think that she has been fooled by a slick guy who says many sensible things. Anyone can be fooled, given a clever angle chosen by a charlatan, myself included. But just as I am bewildered by so many millions falling for the Punk, the sheer numbers of Paul followers amazes me. Bob
No, it’s not based on nothing. Paul always seems to understand why we were attacked, why Iran wants nukes. I think that in today’s world, we can’t wait for an attack. When a madman announces to the world that he is a menace, he must be dealt with-— BEFORE a catastrophe. Obama utilizes the Paul strategy— threaten sanctions to encourage proper behavior. That’s working really well. Bob
P.S. The foreign aid budget is so small that Washington spends that amount in the time it takes to visit a john. I agree in part, but why the focus on paltry sums?
a madman announces to the world that he is a menace You want to listen to our enemies? Al Queda said the reason they were attacking us was because we had bases in Saudi Arabia. Ahmanijad would be the first to tell you if you ask him that if we stop sactioning Iran and our government stops giving money to Israel and we bring all our troops home, that he will leave us alone. I don't know for sure if he's telling the truth, but what if he is? It would be in his interest after all. He lies when that's in his interest, but why shouldn't he act in his own interest?
You are right that the world has changed in that there are nukes. But we have been unable to stop nations we don't like from getting nukes for a while now so that ship has mostly sailed.
Your proposal is to wage perpetual war-- in fact we have been actively at war for 22 years and counting-- in search of a chimera that is already escaped. At a cost of many trillions. What is truly sapping the strategic security of the United States is its fiscal crisis, to which this perpetual war has contributed a vast amount, and which absolutely will not be solved without ending the perpetual war. Every sustained war in US history has brought heavy inflation. If the fiscal crisis is not solved, it will lay low the US. Iran is a very hypothetical foe that would be maybe a tenth the threat to the US that the fiscal crisis is if they were to actually get nukes and declare war. Moreover, as Paul points out, our hostility to Iran unifies the Iranians and prevents overthrow of their government. Our actions are detrimental to our cause.
Paul is not in favor of economic sanctions against Iran. You are wrong again. Obama's strategy is the Bush strategy, not the Paul strategy which is diametrically opposed.
No, Paul is in favor of the Goden Rule. That’ll work just fine in int’l relations. You clearly don’t understand that the destruction of Israel would be celebrated in the streets of every Muslim capital. And it would be viewed as Allah’s will.
When you add the lemmings who support a power-mad, lying Marxist to the folks who have no problem with legalizing hard drugs and prostitution, opening the borders, capitulating to enemies and supporting Ron Paul, we have a helluva scary majority. Lotsa luck to our posterity!
I do agree with you that W’s post-war “nation building” was a fool’s errand, however, and has robbed from our national treasure. Bob
Did you read about the Iranian woman grad student shot dead in Texas, who had been know for her outspoken demands for civil rights in Iran? Yeah, they just want to be left alone. Bob
I would agree with Santorum’s e-mail if it was describing Newt instead of Santorum. Newt is the exciting conservative in the race and he is the one just behind Romney in the polls.
Islamic fundamentalism is on a worldwide jihad in almost every region of the world, not just against us. You have to be extremely ignorant of world events to not know that. Islamic fundamentalism must be confronted on ALL fronts using ALL means necessary.
You are sadly, tragically, shamefully and dangerously naive. You have been suckered in by a snake oil salesman selling easy answers for the sake of his own self-promotion. Wishful thinking like yours doesn't solve problems, it creates disasters. The idea that you would capitulate to the demands of someone who violently attacked you and your country instead of fighting them back shows a despicable lack of self-esteem and courage on your part. Not surprisingly, that is exactly the emotional profile a person would likely have for them to get sucked in by would-be cult leaders and charlatans like Ron Paul.
Who violently attacked me and my country? Iran? You want to start a war against Iran. They are not starting a war against you. They have not attacked us. You are the bad guy here.
I’m also not the least bit naive. I don’t trust anybody. I understand there are sometimes enemies. That’s not what’s happening here. You are so naive, that you have been taken in by the war propaganda of the military industrial complex and internalized it so strongly you haven’t yet offered any single coherent piece of evidence for your position.
In fact, you have stated with absolute and 100% confidence that Paul is wrong on his proposals, and you have yet to get a single proposal of his right, just the contrary you are 100% wrong on what Paul stands for, never mind whether what he stands for is right or wrong.
