How horrible. Poor man.
I just watched an indie flick “Tucker and Dale vs Evil”. Another great scene with a wood chipper.
I don’t do a lot of wood-chipping but I think I’d try to be aware of ropes around my neck near moving machinery.
Prayers for the victim.
I don’t even like wearing a necktie when I’m making pasta.
I guess Friday the 13th DOES suck for some folks after all.
I know there are days such work can be a chore, but its nothing to lose your head over...
We go pancake house now?
Is there really, in any set of circumstances, a time when wrapping a rope around you neck is considered wise thing to do?
That’s a still shot from the film “Fargo” is it not?
Fargo II - The Beheading ??? You betcha !!!
An extremely hazardous business. Sometimes the tree limbs catch ones legs, and drag them up almost to, or into the machines.
One has to be totally aware of what is going on about themselves, as one minor error can be fatal.
Even those little ten horse chippers such as we use here on the ranch to mulch that which we don’t stack for firewood can be extemely dangerous if one is distracted in the slightest.
Talk about getting yanked off the job! ;-)
don’t take your rope to town son, leave your rope at home.
The comments on this thread are horrifying. Tree trimmers are just one more under-appreciated group of physical laborers. It takes expertise, guts and hard work to perform this type of service. When just one oversight or error in judgement can cause death - be thankful for those who do this work for an honest day’s pay in order to feed their families rather than sit on their arses and complain or make fun of those that do.
The guy was 50, “Darwin Award” doesn’t seem to have any meaning anymore to people since it just means dead, now.
“Nevada County sheriff’s deputies initially said 50-year-old Martin Lara was feeding brush and was pulled head-first into the wood chipper by the rope.
But coroner’s Sgt. Paul Schmidt tells Sacramento’s KCRA-TV (http://bit.ly/w4SqEP ) that something got caught in the wood chipper and got tangled around Lara’s neck, decapitating him.”
A few years ago we had a local dentist killed when he was cut into several pieces. His fencing wire got tangled around him and caught in his gas powered post hole digger. It wasn’t quick. I knew him slightly and he was a golfing buddy of my dentist.
Did Nikita Khrushchev know anything about mixing ropes and wood chippers together?
I hate it when that happens.
It happens...
