I just watched an indie flick “Tucker and Dale vs Evil”. Another great scene with a wood chipper.

I don’t do a lot of wood-chipping but I think I’d try to be aware of ropes around my neck near moving machinery.
Prayers for the victim.

I guess Friday the 13th DOES suck for some folks after all.

Rule # 1 when operating a wood chipper: when not put a rope around your neck and let the end get into the input bin.

Is there really, in any set of circumstances, a time when wrapping a rope around you neck is considered wise thing to do?

I used to work in a hardwoods sawmill around a real wood chipper. That thing was dangerous even in the best of conditions.
I got a broken rib standing in a “safe” area behind the chipper when an 8 inch cant broke when it hit the blade and spun off the shroud around the mouth of the thing.

An extremely hazardous business. Sometimes the tree limbs catch ones legs, and drag them up almost to, or into the machines.
One has to be totally aware of what is going on about themselves, as one minor error can be fatal.
Even those little ten horse chippers such as we use here on the ranch to mulch that which we don’t stack for firewood can be extemely dangerous if one is distracted in the slightest.
