Gingrich answers Rush Limbaugh
The Hill ^ | 1/10/2012 | Christian Heinze

On Fox & Friends this morning, Newt Gingrich fought back against Rush Limbaugh's criticism of his rhetoric on Bain Capital.

FOX HOST STEVE DOOCY: I was driving around yesterday in my car, and I was listening to Rush Limbaugh, and he was talking about you and how you're going after Mitt Romney and Bain Capital.

And he said that you're using the language of the Left to beat up on Romney over Bain.

He said it makes him uncomfortable because that's what the Left will do if Romney is the nominee.

GINGRICH: Well, I don't think I'm using the language of the Left. I'm using the language of classic American populism.

Main Street has always been suspicious of Wall Street, small businesses have always worried about big businesses.... and I think people have a natural concern when they see financiers come in from out of town, take over a company, take all the profits, and then leave people who are unemployed behind.

Newt is not anti business. Newt maybe upset over the attack ads and making a general point that has somehow gone way off course. Rush hurt Newt no doubt today along with Newt himself. Hope Newt can get back on the issues. I am still supporting him and or Rick S. Wouldn’t it be something if the elites got Ron Paul.

Business should share there profits with the workers.

Hmmm, I think that's what a paycheck is called.

Do the words “out of context” mean anything to you?

I heard Rush today and I don’t disagree with him often but he was most certainly wrong today. Rush is not in the ball park with Newt on this. When the hell is it wrong to criticize a snake oil salesman like Romney! Look at all the lies Romney has been spouting. When he does tell the truth it is nothing of value. Rush: Your wife must be affecting your judgement or maybe your “Two If By Tea” has turned into “Two If By Koolaide”.

Rush has done more damage to Newt than Romney. For the second time Rush has lost me. I’m the kind of fighter that you constantly hit me and eventually I mop the floor with you. Newt is right and those of you that disagree with it apparently you have never been wronged over and over.

Stop what crap, this is what happened this morning and what Rush Limbaugh spent much of his show on today. Guess you support a government fairness program.

I think Larry the Liquidator (Danny DeVito) explained it really well in the movie "Other People's Money."

Well worth the 12 minutes to watch this. I wish Newt Gingrich had seen it before he went down this path.

He wants them to share their gains out of a sense of social obligation and fairness. This is not much different than Obama’s spreading the wealth around comment to Joe the Plumber.

If you can't see the obvious difference here..well....I am sorry for you.

Remember 6 weeks from now, the word POPULIST.

Newt’s going for it.

Sarah was preaching it.

Newt’s not stupid.

Tell us who you are supporting in this election or stop this crap.

I don't think this is crap. Newt slamming free market Capitalism makes me a little uneasy. I don't like Mittens either, but there are a lot more things to attack him on than Bain. As a Conservative, I am concerned about going after how anyone makes a legal living in the Private Sector. I am for Santorum by the way.

As far as I can tell at this point in time, the person that no conservative wants to win the nomination is on his way to winning the nomination.

Newt isn’t doing himself any favors.

It’s one thing to defend yourself against attacks while remaining positive. It’s another thing to go on the attack, especially when you have a tendency to expose yourself as being a progressive.

From what I can see, Newt is in the process of imploding, because he let Romney get under his skin and failed to defend himself in an effecitve manner.

Now, don’t get mad at me pls, I don’t want to see any of our candidates implode or anything like that. What I want to see is them attack our communist president.

What we have now is a circular firing squad that is going to leave our candidates politically dead.

Only if the workers are either :

A. salary paid and deserve a bonus...or
B. the company is employee owned.

But there is a third possibility...you don’t know the definition of “profit”.

If Bain is the model for capitalism then count me out. I have been a conservative business man all my life and I can not for the life of me figure out why people want to defend Corporate Raiders. I live in fear of them. They are ruthless and greedy, no they are not CAPITALIST, they are opporunitist.

Newt will sock it to Bammy Boy the same way he is rocking Mittens world. Bain is a very mixed bag and is custom made for the Obama propaganda machine working along with occupy Wall Street. Newt is less definable, much harder for the ObamaBots to demonize. Plus Newt will dish it out...dish it right back to them and then some. Romney is too timid.

At one point today, I had to leave the (radio) room as Rush was making me upset. He was doing to Newt what he was accusing Newt of doing to Romney.

I'm a supporter of neither man....but in my humble opinion, Rush should have stayed out of this feud and let the voters sort it out. He has great influence....and the Left and the MSM will now be using his attacks against both of the GOP candidates against them if and when either of them face Obama.

This is the first time in about 22 years of listening that I am thoroughly disgusted with Rush and his horrible. unproductive rants today.

Bain did engage in some ugly vulture capitalism back in Romney’s day, but what does Newt want—European style limits on when a company can lay off employees? The government deciding who business owners can and cannot sell their enterprises to?

Whether a business’ owners share profits with the workers or not, Newt’s point is that Bain Capital was not in the business of investing in businesses and building them up. Bain Capital was carpet bagging — going in to distressed businesses, keeping them afloat just long enough to dismantle them and sell off anything of value, then let the original company die.

That is not the side of capitalism that we celebrate. We celebrate capitalism’s ability to gather money and people and build something that didn’t previously exist. Newt in his interview with Megyn Kelly today gave examples of true “white knight” private equity companies that go into failing companies and make them stronger than ever, unlike the vulture Bain Capital that Romney claims as his “business expertise”. It is important for voters to know that Romney’s “business expertise” is not from building but from dismantling other businesses.
