Multiply this event by 100,000 and you would have a pretty good start on a civilized society.
Justice is most efficiently served at the time of the incident if the intended victim can hand out the sentence to the assailant. Anything else is usually inefficient, costly or unjust.
She is my personal hero at the moment. I have been meaning to get trained for years and keep putting it off. The premiss of this story is correct (if I am understanding it correctly). It is like the mamogram that I have been meaning to get,and keep putting off,everytime I see reminders for it, I am that much more likely to go make an appointment to do it. That is the whole point of the breast cancer awareness thing, right? This is a story that, if told repeatedly when it occurs, could save lives. It could save mine one day. I am motivated to go get my training by this one story. How many others would be if we heard more?
I’m curious as to why this incident is getting so much play in the media. I read stories about armed citizens killing POS criminals all the time on FR. Why does this particular incident grab so many people?
Also, this author’s vernacular writing style is really obnoxious.
In this story the 911 operator told the woman, "I can't tell you to shoot, but you need to protect yourself and do what's right."
In an identical situation in California, the 911 operator told the woman to put the gun away so she didn't provoke the intruder or harm someone.
If the Gun Grabbers and the rest of the Socialists in the Nation had their way,
That young woman would have been DISARMED and at the mercy of the knife wielding thugs.
She did what she had to do, end of story.
The lesson in this story is that if you are dumb enough to rely on a 911 call to save you, you are harboring a death wish.

Someone just came forward claiming she and her deceased husband were swatting it that home.
