My NRA magazine has similar, under-reported stories in the Armed Citizen section each month.
I have a binder containing twenty years of American Rifleman’s “The Armed Citizen”. Fun reading, especially when the perp assumed his victim lacked the nerve to shoot and shortly thereafter is either dead on the victim’s lawn or is insisting to the EMT nurse that he was at home cleaning his gun when it went off by itself, twice.
The assembled stories also demonstrate the wisdom of having enough gun. Too many perps shot with .22 pistols survive to stand trial.
Someone wrote that these evildoers attended the husband’s funeral and figured the young widow would be easy pickin’s. Gives new meaning to guarding the house during the service.
