Tea party favorite and pro-life conservative Sarah Palin and her family were viciously attacked to the point she chose not to run.
Congressional Tea Party Caucus leader and constitutional pro-life conservative Michele Bachmann had early promise, but I guess came across as too "shrill" and consequently her numbers driven down to the point she exited.
Successful pro-life conservative Texas Governor Perry hit the race at the top but due to missteps and less than stellar debate performances soon fizzled and is now all but gone.
Pro-life conservative businessman Cain and his famous 9-9-9 plan had promise, but was driven out due to indefensible allegations.
Pro-life Reagan Revolution conservative Newt Gingrich reinvigorated his campaign and soared to the top of the national polls, but was unacceptable to the establishment and apparently also unacceptable to the "true conservatives" among us and his numbers are now plummeting
You'd think "unquestionably" pro-life, pro-family conservative Rick Santorum whose recent surge took him to a tie in Iowa and who's now surging in the national polls might be good enough to stand against Romney for the base, but looks like there are "true conservatives" now attacking HIM as not good enough.
Well, drive them all out and who's left?
Huntsman? Who? Moonbat Paul?
Ideas anyone? Should we all continue attacking the conservatives we don't like until we drive them all out?
Personally, I could easily have lived with Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Newt or Santorum and would be proud to enthusiastically support any of them, warts and all. Any one of them is infinitely better than Obama or Romney.
But if we don't land on one soon and raise him up over Romney, guess who we're going to be stuck with? And it ain't going to be pretty. And if abortionist/statist/progressive Romney (or moonbat Paul) is the one, might as well get used to four more years of Obama. I won't vote for or support either one of those two.
I'd suggest that we all stop trying to tear down the other conservative candidates in the race and instead concentrate on trying to build up our own personal favorites. Who knows? May even discover an acceptable conservative (if not a great conservative) in the bunch. We've never had a perfect conservative yet. Not even the magnificent Ronald Reagan. We and they all have warts.
But we do want to have a candidate with at least an actual CONSERVATIVE record and not an out and out liberal progressive RINO. So let's compare their records and their actual conservative accomplishments but not try to destroy them personally.
God bless and may the best CONSERVATIVE be our nominee.
Ultimately, it is not politically correct to say what is wrong with this country, not anywhere, not even here on FR.
So we are doomed.
There will be stagnation and famine in socialism, or there will be a return to bloody natural law. Neither is something I’ll make it through. Good luck y’all.
I meant here in the geographical sense of Europe, not the FR sense. Sorry for the confusion, it was after midnight after a long work day when I typed that!
It’s odd, I know. Just one of those things.
OK the grandfather did come here by himself in 1923 and then the family joined him a few years later...
From the Pennsylvania website
http://www.patownhall.com/article.php?id=5860
Mr. Santorum was born in the Trento province of Italy to Maria and Pietro Santorum. Aldo, his mother, older brother Bruno and younger sister Carla moved to the Johnstown area when he was 7 to join his father, who came to the United States five years earlier.
“My grandfather was working in the auto industry but lost his job during the Depression,” Rick Santorum said. “He finally found a job in the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania in 1929 and the family joined him.”
The family lived in a company town called Carpenters Park. “After several years in the mines, the family moved upscale to nearby Tyler Hill,” Santorum said.
Mr. Santorum joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 after high school, serving most of World War II in the South Pacific where his main job was repairing airplanes.
After returning from the war, he earned a psychology degree from St. Francis College in Loretto, a graduate degree from Catholic University in Washington and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Ottawa.
“He then went to work for the Veterans Administration and that is where he met my mom,” Rick Santorum said.

So Ricks Dad was a US veteran...
(and went to school on the old GI Bill...)
But I cant find yet WHEN he became a US citizen...
This was the first time I had ever heard of this.
I went to the site because it was a link from a thread here on Free Republic.
As to Leo Donofrio, I believe he has NO cases at the Supreme Court, and in fact, has said he will never set foot in another Federal courtroom.
There are a lot of weird things happening right now, and it wouldn’t surprise me if a case went to the Supreme Court and the LSM never let out a peep.
I don’t buy that. For all his flaws, and they are substantial, he is no Marxist.
I'm writing what follows not to you, but to Free Republic posters, including myself, who sometimes need to be reminded of the truth of what you've said. I've said similar things for many years but I think it bears repeating — when we post something, think twice before hitting the enter key, and if it's an attack on a fellow conservative, think a third time not only about what we said but why we said it and how the recipient will read it.
There is a certain level of bitterness and viciousness in conservative circles — whether political or ecclesiastical — that severely damages conservative candidates and issues because 1) it focuses our energy on attacking each other rather than defeating the real enemy, namely, liberals, and 2) it drives away moderate conservatives who we need if we're going to reach a 50 percent majority in a general election.
I'm not saying that spirit is totally absent from liberal circles , but it is more of a problem for us conservatives because we take truth seriously. We believe there is such a thing as absolute right and wrong. We believe there are unchangeable moral absolutes. We believe the Constitution is not a living document, but rather that the original intent of the founders and their actual words on paper are supposed to determine the proper interpretation.
For people who believe truth is absolute, the stakes in compromise are not small. Liberals can make compromises to get their nose in the tent; we can't act that way. And sometimes, we get very, very angry when we see others doing what we (correctly) call lying but they see as compromising.
It's Scripture, not the Constitution, but speaking the truth in love is important in civil politics as well as ecclesiastical affairs. I realize true liberals are **NOT** our brothers and we are correctly to regard them as bitter enemies, but when applies to fellow conservatives in church or in state, let's try to remain loving while never forgetting to remain truthful. Neither are optional and both are important.

Who IS Jim Thompson?
I AM.
And for anyone on this forum who thinks Ima talkin' out my Obama--BRING IT
H4831 60 grains.
I’m hoping for a Newt Gingrich and Susanna Martinez ticket....Newt is experienced and Gov. Martinez is quite capable while being able to pull in Dems who vote based on ethnicity alone. JMHO
I caved and lost all interest when Cain went down.
I was so excited before then. It’s to the point where I just don’t care anymore. I’ll take anyone who can put Obama out of office.
Yep, I know, I’m a downer but I just have no more enthusiasm.

Which is why I was questioning it a bit. It left me scratching my head ( figuratively ) and I even checked the date to see when it was posted ( a week or two ago )lol.
Yes, definitly weird things going on and it also would not surprise me either.
Thanks for the reply FRiend ~
I’d think the Air Force (an Army dept back then?) would ensure he naturalized during his service.
Bump that.
LOL! You are really fuzzy or you aren't a small government conservative...maybe you don't claim to be.
I’m sticking with Newt. I admire Santorum for his courage on social issues (sad commentary on the times in which we live). I’d be fine with him. I was disappointed with Perry in the debates. I was hoping to be wowed. He’s a doer, not a talker, and I don’t have a problem with that, but if he can’t make the case in a debate with his peers, he won’t be able to do it in the general. I would vote for any of the 3 over Romney.
Turns out we have just the guy. AAC, what was the policy in the 40s, 50s for naturalizing an immigrant serviceman while in service?
That was amazing ~
Thank you.
Re Santorum being in second place nationally...
We haven’t had a debate in awhile. Let’s see what the polls show after the next debate or two. Debates are Gingrich’s strength, and now that he plans to take the gloves off regarding Romney, the next couple debates should be interesting, and we’ll see how that plays out in the subsequent polls.
Personally, I think we need a Pit Bull in the White House. That’s Newt.
As usual I’m late to the party...
What I’ve been wondering aloud for awhile is:
1) We don’t get a conservative to take out Romney in the primaries (not that we don’t or won’t try)
2) Having seen what a 3rd party does when rebelling against RINOism (Perot ‘92, I did it)
3) Do we do it again, in hopes of forever teaching the GOP a lesson, while trying to take the Senate and hold the House?
4) Or do we sit out the top of the ticket?
I’m ready to fall on my sword once again and go third party....
Or a pitbull with lipstick but I don't think that's going to happen. :)
You have no idea what a huge breath of fresh air this was for me to read. I appreciate your posting it as well.
For many many times I have started out a smart alec response to you on the Perry threads and then I read them and hit my back button instead of posting.
I LIKE you Naps but I was begining to really NOT like you on the Perry threads.
Thank you for your post.
