Sarah Palin said she wasn't surprised at Rick Santorum's success in Iowa, and warned that the GOP should not take Ron Paul's supporters lightly.
Speaking on Fox News before Iowa's final numbers were in, she called Santorum "spot-on" with his policies toward Iran and praised his "social conservative" positions.
Her strongest comments came for Paul, however, saying "the GOP had better not marginalize Ron Paul and his supporters after this" because "a lot of Americans are war-weary and we are broke" and Paul has reached that constituency well. She warned that the GOP "better work with them."

>> “What about the ones who are actually aliens?” <<
They’re already divvyed-up between Romney, Noot, and Ricardo.
I don't like Paul (and some of his weirder supporters); but I think people need to really look deeper at that thought. I think it's wrong; we shouldn't marginalize them.
I think Palin is 100% right on this issue. With the proper small government conservative candidate (such as Palin could have become); I think most of them would be on our side; and the primaries would be almost over.
The ones I know personally; and are 100% not Democrats. They overlooking Paul's foreign policy stupidity; and embracing his slash and burn economic ideas.
They are fed up with things(like many of us). They see Paul as a radical who can maybe get some things done.
“As I see it, a lot of Ron Paul “supporters” are actually Obama supporters trying to sew seeds of diversion and division.”
You should get your eyes checked.
This is why Sarah had such staunch fans..I'm still one of them. She is trying to tell you that IF you want a conservative in the WH instead of Romney..you had better pool the resources at hand.
In no way is she saying that she agrees with everything that Paul says. She gives him credit for the foresight he has had on our financial woes and she is saying .. hey, there's a lot of families and communities that have been harmed by the war.
She's not saying there should never be a war..just that the nation is broke and war weary. Which of those two statements is wrong? None, in my opinion.
She's not telling anyone to kiss Paul's supporters...”better work with them” is what she said. Can't we do that? If we can't do that within our own party, I don't see much chance of changing Washington.
How do you get republicans back from Paul? Take his message on fiscal responsibility, smaller government and “declared” wars. If anyone with any passion got up and truly meant the above..they would get the voters.
After Cain dropped out..I was glad that Paul was still in the debates haranguing about fiscal responsibility.
We are not getting out of this mess by kissing the blarney stone and making vague promises. If it's gonna work..it's gonna hit everyone and hurt, but just for a while.
The alternative to being unbending and unyielding is failure. I don't think America can take four more of the obama team of destruction.
Frankly, I never heard her say any of what you said.
Project much?
You guys will get smart when you quit telling people what she actually said. You think she can’t speak for herself?
Truth is, she didn’t say what you said.
Good grief.
Please state WHO it is that is marginalizing Paul and his supporters. These candidates have names. Who is doing it?
Can’t change it until we know who is doing it.
It’s here country, too, and she’s being asked.
What makes you think I support the bailouts?
Half of Paul’s voters are nutcases who probably would never vote for a regular Republican.
The rest are sensible people who we don’t need to worry about being little crybabies cause someone talked bad about Uncle Ronny.
What..the people that saw her say this on TV were just dreaming it?
Paul supporters want an honest small constitutional government that pursues a non interventionist foreign policy. If a war must be fought then get Congress to declare war and fight the war until the enemy agrees to unconditional surrender. But he and his followers are all nut jobs or on drugs.
Um..you never saw me say anything about Paul and druggies.
Good point and that’s probably what she means.
She didn’t elaborate and you know it. What is wrong with you? I watched it live. Ask her to elaborate. So yes, you are trying to put your words in her mouth. I take it we were watching the same video from last night. Correct?
Who is marginalizing Paulkooks? Do you even know? So far, I haven’t seen any of them mention Paul much unless he attacks them in ads put out by his tards.
Indeed, 48% of his voters in the Iowa caucusses were Democrats or Independents.
To you she’s anything you want her to be for your daily need of attention.
I do see a lot of posters here who assume Paul has nothing but “Dems turned Republican for a day” supporters however.
That is what I think is dead wrong. The Paul supporters I know are very genuine; 2 would be categorized as evangelical Christians in fact.
I don't know how they can set aside Paul's foreign policy views, but they are.
They are looking for radical solutions I think.
I certainly hate to be the one defending Paul supporters; geez!
Palin is 100% correct despite what people in here want to believe. These voters arnt all stupid pot-smokers. They know the country is going bankrupt, and it is. They know we cant afford a war with Iran, and we cant. They know the government continues to grow out of control, and it is.
I agree Ron Paul himself is a kook. But where are the Paul voters wrong as far as the issues are concerned?
And Santorum won’t attract any Paul voters. His Senate record is for more big government. They will go vote 3rd party if Santorum wins. And that’s going to give Obama a 2nd term.
This is why Palin is saying this now....
