Mitt Romney’s best weapon in Iowa: Ann Romney. She ain’t no robot
SFGate: Politics Blog ^ | 1/3/12 | Joe Garofoli, Chronicle Political Writer

Marion, Iowa -- As we pointed out in Tuesday’s Chronicle, Iowa Republicans look at Mitt Romney as their castor oil candidate. He doesn’t taste right, but he’s supposed to be good for them.

So on the trail, Mitt’s later appearances feature less Mitt and more Ann Romney. Or “my girlfriend” as Mitt introduced her. They’re even bringing along three of their five sons in the past few days. As you can see in the below Shaky Hand Productions video, Ann is the Romney who…sit down before you read this…actually will ad-lib before an audience. She comes across as very warm and genuine. She’s a great story, a survivor of cancer and multiple sclerosis…not to mention the five sons she raised.

Outside of Ann’s warmth, a Romney campaign appearance — right down to its lighting, positioning of risers, use of music and runway — is a near-replica of a Meg Whitman for Governor campaign rally. So much so that if Mitt showed up at one of his rallies in a pants suit and pearls, we wouldn’t blink. (When you live in the Bay Area, little makes you blink.)

I think her support for Romney is probably hurting her among Conservatives more than it is helping Romney, but lets face it, Ann does seem to relish city life and the cocktail party set.

I doubt she really cares what people in Bugtussle think about her.

Sales for her next book are going to be interesting. I imagine large numbers of people will not be plinking down any more dollars to support her lifestyle.

Mrs. Romney may not be a robot, she is however a liar just like her husband.
Really, saying they have both ALWAYS been pro-life.....When you lie about stuff so easily found out, everything leaving your mouth is suspect.

Around here, people just use her maiden name of Coulter.

Yes, and to keep Ann Romney out of the White House as First Weirdo Lady is reason enough to oppose Romney.

Ann Romney lied about being pro-life. She was pro-abortion along with her liar husband Mitt for decades and decades.

Sorry, I saw (and heard) her on FOX today and frankly, she reminds me wayyyyyyyy too much of hillary clinton...even favors her at certain angles.

LOL! Yes, I thought “Coulter” when I first saw this, too.

I must admit that I always thought Ann Coulter was sort of a self-obsessed wild card, despite the many folks here who seemed to think she was a divine voice whispering in their ear. She has said a couple of good things, but she’s been on the dark side (liberalism) for awhile now and it’s not really surprising to see her supporting Romney.

That said, I neither know nor care what Romney’s wife or the wife of any other candidate thinks.

I will have to say I prefer her hair over Mrs. Newt #3.

Mrs. Newt #3 is always just steps away from Newt with her blond helmet doo. NEVER a hair out of place! What's the deal? She and Donald Trump got a corner on the hair market?

Newt needs to chill it with the wife. She looks like GOP Establishment. Red dress and pearls. Not very Iowan and I doubt if the folks in SC cotton to her much either.

(woof woof) double sorry

Coulter writes a good stick and she can definitely be amusing when she taunts the leftists, but either by necessity or design her work aims at evoking strong emotions on both sides, because being provocative is a core element of her business model.

I think she is more interested in the money she is making than she is advancing the conservative cause and she cheerfully takes advantage of the well-known adage that any publicity is better than no publicity.

That, in itself, was fine. I didn’t mind much myself because, like I said, I think she writes good interesting columns and I enjoy it when she whacks a particularly irksome bit of Liberal stupidity, but I don’t worship her dainty feet.

All that being said, my point is that now she risking being seen more as a member of the political establishment and that is definitely going to hurt her among the Tea Party types, many of whom are still smarting from the way Cain and Palin were treated.

These are the folk who are gagging at the thought of Newt simply because he isn’t Romney, wonder wistfully if Santorum might do and wince whenever Paul lets off another stinkbomb.

Our nerves are somewhat frayed at this point, and the last thing any of us want to do is listen to Miss Gabby “Gooch is my boytoy” tell us how wonderful Romney is.

That quote is a paraphrase. If anyone wants to read the whole thing they can find it here:

For something truly creepy, read about how Governor and then presidential candidate, George Romney personally handled the conversion of the young teen while Mitt was mostly at college and living in France, while avoiding the draft.

The Romneys had already committed to being pro-abortion at the time that Mitt met Ann and she has been pro-abortion herself, until evidently she had the same odd epiphany that Mitt had when he decided to run for president.

I believe that Mitt and she were married in a secret Mormon ceremony while Ann’s parents were kept outside the building.
