Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
Alright...time to get out, Michele.
Iowa is nothing -— open primary -— the media are making it into something it’s never been before.
Faux just projected that Bachmann will come in last.
That won’t make her quit = money will, (sooner rather than later) but she’s already broke.
Bachmann wil most assuredly appear in the next two debates, and ditto for Gingrich and Perry, proving that Iowa didn’t dispose of any candidate!
C-SPAN showing the counting of votes live in Urbandale, Iowa. At this location, Romney won with about 38% of the vote. Bringing up the rear was Michelle Bachmann with just 14 votes (out of nearly 400).
Maybe, just maybe, they would like to vote for the one guy of either party who will NOT reappoint Ben Bernanke to the FED.
Sad they crackpot Paul wants to trample the US Constitution. That “provide for the common defense” is the main objective and the one he opposes the most. You have to wonder what country that pitiful old demented man would like to see as the top world military power. The United States is obviously not it.
LOL!! I guess I can agree that there is an intersection to your two past times tonight! Thanks for the chuckle!!
Paul is a frigging lunatic who stands no chance and he even said virtually the same and should not be allowed to run on the republican ticket as he is not a republican.
Would LOVE to see all freepers boycott Faux news. I bet Rove is sitting there with a smug grin on his pork chop face
Excellent news. I hope Santorum can pull it out. O’s gonna be pissed to see a Santorum/Paul 1/2 at the Iowa caucus.

Not watching Fox tonight here either. I usually always watch Fox.

Pauls nutters even come on conservative websites like this spewing their madness , they use our ticket to promote their idiotic garbage and it is high time to stop liberals, libertarians using our platform to spew their crap.
We are already getting radio ads for Romney, Perry and Newt....auggghhh .....and our Primary is 1/30.
At some point in time we need a candidate to circle the wagons around Obama, not one another.
Right now, I'm in the “Anyone But Obama” camp.
I’m finished with Faux News too.
In fact, my husband, DrO told me that he would rather watch CNN! LOL.
He’s sick of this all Romney, anti-Gingrich Faux News.
Iowa is meaningless: It didn’t dispose of any candidate!
Gingrich, Perry and even Bachmann will all appear in the next two debates.
Har!
Your analysis sucks. Paul gets the youth vote for one simple reason, his libertarian views on drugs and and sex. If he could break dance he’d do even better.
