Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
You know something.
We are forgetting that this is our first election cycle without the Common Tator.
I think he passed in 2009.
Let’s pause a moment to remember a great Freeper.
Best,
Chris
“I think much of Ron Pauls support will evaporate tonight. Some other Not Romney will win.”
We’ll know for sure tomorrow morning. Happy caucus day!
I’m not some liberal operative, if that’s what you’re thinking; I’m an evangelical Christian who’s sick of electing perverts and crooks. If we had decent men and women in Washington, we wouldn’t have half the problems we do.
Obama has inflicted such serious economic harm to America that the economy will necessarily be the centerpiece of elections for years to come. Morality will take a back seat and voters will be more inclined to vote for more perverts and crooks.
You’ve got to hand it to the liberals for playing their hand well. If we focus on the economy, issues like reinstating DADT and curbing abortion will probably fall by the wayside. If we focus on morality instead, I agree that we’ll lose.
If you have any doubts about my authenticity, go look through my post history. Despite my personal opinions, I’ve always tried to support the current Not Romney. I’m excited about Santorum’s surge because he’s been my favorite from the start.
And if you still don’t believe me, I’ll have to drive down to the Burgh and snap yinz with my Terrible Towel.
I think Santorum has peaked...
Paul 24
Romney 23
Gingrich 17
Santorum 16
Perry 15
Bachmann 4
Other 1
Damn, CNN is bringing out the new toys, screens, and maps. I want those!
I think Newt is seriously pissed at Romney for the Romney SuperPAC attacks that Romney claims he has no control over. A pissed off Newt is a dangerous thing to have aimed at you. Tomorrow Newt is going to begin ripping Mitt a new one. Guess he figures that if he is going down he is going to take Mitt with him.
I think it starts around 8. Results around 10 (EST)
Me too.
A pissed off Newt self destructs.
Paul was dropping and Santorum was still surging.Undecided will get this one.
Which poll are you quoting?
“Is this a strategy or unintentional?”
Unfortunetly negative adds work. Newt got pounded by being Mr Nice Guy and in turn not having the money to fight back. Now he figures in order to survive he needs to fight back. He also has more cash. I think he is trying to define Mitt.
We saw Newt in person last night. He admitted that due to the attack ads they think taking the high road was a mistake.
He didn’t come right out and say it but the implication is the gloves are coming off now.
Never mind. It’s your prediction.
Carry on. =:o)
We have lost so many good Freepers over the years. Every so often I go visit the Memorial Wall.
He was right to take the high road, but when Iowa voters started to be swayed by the vicious attack ads they claim to hate, then he’s now forced to take off the gloves and go after Romney with bare knuckles.
I wish him the best and will pray for him with all my might.
Wow, it took til now to read all the posts...sorry, my bad. Should’a specified. Insiders today saying the Santorum surge ended two days ago. We’ll see...
Awesome. From your lips to God’s ear, and to the voters of the great state of Iowa.
May God guide our course.
Tatt
Prayers sent for our team tonight. Perry is by far the best choice for America.
