I met some illegal Mexicans last night at a party. Several years ago I stayed with a couple of wonderful Mexican families in the Baja below California. These were well-off people. The homes, on average were beautifully tiled and some of them had mahogany inlaid walls, bookshelves and cabinetry that would cost a hundred-thousand dollars here. So, Im guessing if they arent rich theyre very comfortable. The elderly not as well-off grandfather, while living in Mexico was receiving Social Security from the United States and owned a rent-free apartment in California which he used as his address to receive several forms of assistance checks from Californian agencies. He visited the apartment once a week to re-arrange things and make it looked lived in. He had a car, a Toyota Corolla that looked quite nice and had working air-conditioning. I gathered it was supplied as some form of assistance and he generally left it in California at the apartment. The apartment was about 1100 square feet and very livable. The grandfather told me most of entire complex, easily a 1000 units, were like him, on Californian assistance, but actually living in Mexico.
At the party were a couple of teenage boys from this family. Very nice kids. Id be proud to have them as my own; diligent, hard working, trouble-free and much more adult than youd expect from that age. They told me that theyd decided to go to high school in California instead of Mexico. They said that the (California) government gave them an apartment and they travel back to Mexico on the weekends. (I dont know if theyre staying alone or if a family member is staying with them, but if I had to guess, they came alone.)
When I posted information on this family last time, Freepers angrily asked why I hadnt reported them. Firstly, I was a well-treated guest. Secondly, this must be obvious to the casual observer. Even if I knew who to report it to in California, which I dont, it is obvious that this is how its done. These people are only taking advantage of benefits put there for them. Not to avail themselves of these benefits would be like deciding not to take candy freely offered to you.
If you know about it and don’t report it you are an accomplice to a crime. If you stayed with a “nice” family who told you that they rip off the company they work for millions of dollars on a regular basis, wouldyou sit still? Shame on you.
I spent the past 3 years working for a California-based contractor doing specialty construction of recreational facilities. It was hard work juggling multiple identities, and multiple timesheets for the various DBA’s that insulated my employer from paying overtime. It was also insulting, especially when these guys were being flown in from LA to do work we could have easily accomplished with local, domestic labor. My attitude quickly soured, my lifelong passion doused, and then they fired me. So even though a lot of these illegal aliens are nice folks to be around, they represent an insidious and destructive force that has no benefit for law-abiding Americans.
And I wonder if that is one of the small town POs scheduled for closure? Or maybe the volume of government checks being handle will keep it open despite the tiny population?
The idiocy and fraud that is tolerated in the US is unreal, and there are plenty fighting to make sure it continues.
Yes it is legal.....he probably claimed "asylum" to collect. Claiming "asylum" triggers a Social Security payout in the thousands of dollars....a relic of WW 11 emigres fleeing Europe----which illegals are using to loot the US taxpayer.
CASES IN POINT:
Many wealthy Mexicans claim asylum from drug wars ---then ride the US gravy train under multiple identities. They are also part of Mexico's plot to build a voting bloc in order to pressure vote-crazed Congressmen to vote billions in foreign aid.
Obama's Aunt Zeituni hired a pricey lawyer to claim asylum and strt adding the SS payout to the pile of US benefits she's already collecting. However, Auntie is well-connected back home---so it's doubtful she is in danger there---plus her nephew as president gives her some protection.
As I said, E-Verify isn't perfect, but it wouldn't require a national ID.
I do however, chuckle when some of the candidates promote the idea that all non-citizens carry special ID. I guess if this were to come to pass, it wouldn't work unless everybody carried ID.
I will concede that someday, in the not too distant future, we will have some form of national ID, but it will probably be waived for illegals.
The question to ask next time is, why is Mexico unable to provide jobs, housing, and healthcare for its own citizens, when they have (as a citizen) the richest man in the world, Carlos Slim Helú? Make them think about why they have to leave their homeland to make a living when the white elite in their nation are living it up.
That would include La Raza, MALDEF and a multitude of smaller political players in the 501(c)(3) game that violate corporate law with the full knowledge of congress and the justice department.
Most likely these cunning criminal illegals falsified state and federal documents to get these benefits.
Falsifying official documents is a felony.
They are probably riding the US gravy train, collecting benefits under multiple identities-—which they buy from document forgers for several thousand dollars per identity.
The Washington state rapist had some 30 identities.
Another illegal (one of many) collected $3.2 Million in UI benefits under several identities.
Due to the political power they hold, have to believe the statement is true.
It was a legit question. It is Freakafornia after all.
You have to be able to definitively determine a persons identity and status. Determining who is illegal will require determining everybodys status.
But many conservatives are opposed to such a system
See post #36 for a good explanation of why conservatives oppose a national ID card - it won't do anything to stop illegal immigration which the government itself chooses to overlook, but it will put new and annoying burdens on US citizens. I've already got two forms of ID provided by the government - a US Passport and a state drivers license. Oh, and I have also proved my citizenship in order to register to vote and to be employed. What more should we be asked to do? To get my passport I had to provide the government with all kinds of proof of citizenship. Isn't that enough?
The government already can tell very quickly if anyone is a legal or illegal immigrant. All legal immigrants have visas or entry records related to their passports. No doubt they are in a database run by the federal government. Most, perhaps all recent legal immigrants have been fingerprinted at entry.
The idea that we need a new ID card is nonsense, all we need is for the government to actually enforce the law.
Last I heard, TEN PERCENT of Mexico’s population was living in the United States.
Benefits them to have another country pay for their citizens and repatriate BILLIONS of dollars back to their third world cesspool economy.
Blood. Boiling.
Even Commie Keynesian Kenyans?
I met Mr. Jim Beam last night.....again.
There is no one to to report them to.
They have (III)...Illegal Immigrant Immunity.
I was born, raised, and live here. Can I claim asylum?
Here is how it works for the Mexicans. Aunt Maria gets very sick and needs dialysis. She flies into the U.S., for a ‘vacation’ and her nephew picks her up at the airport and drives immediately to the major medical center where auntie goes on dialysis. Once on, she has to stay here and get assistance.
Another common scenario Uncle Jose gets diagnosed with a brain tumor. (It turns out it’s really not a brain tumor, it’s a tapeworm egg that got into the bloodstream and traveled to his brain.) He takes his vay-cay in the U.S. and has his brain surgery here. Guess who pays for all this.
