At least 16 cars burned Saturday morning in Los Angeles bringing the total number of suspected arson fires to 44 over the last two days, sources told ABC News.
In nearly every case, the fires were set in cars parked in and around the Hollywood area. In some cases, the flames spread to nearby buildings.
Investigators have not determined a motive behind the blazes, nor have they established whether they are the work of one person or the efforts of people acting together.
They are looking at all possibilities behind the blazes, especially the prospect of a serial arsonist on the loose.
San Fernando fire captain George Villegas says some people have been questioned for the crimes.

Whoever they are, they appear to be well-organized. The fires are set in rapid succession a few minutes apart. Also, police say there is a similar m.o. in all fires, without adding particulars. I assume the fires are all started with some sort of device.....

insert a lit cigarette into a match pack, pour gas under the vehicle, place the lit cig/matches on the gas . When the cig burns down, the matches ignite the gas and the tires/car burn
Well, there are at least three obvious candidates:
1. Muslims.
2. Occupiers.
3. A flash mob, which in recently reported cases have consisted of black youts.
If, as the authorities suggest, there are a LOT of people involved, then it’s probably 2 or 3.
Unfortunately, it would be politically incorrect to say that any of these groups are involved, so we may never know for sure.
They will be found—people can’t keep their moths shut about their deeds—they will boast—I bet its part of OWS but it could be any number of things. The truth will come out in time.
Looks like they have discovered the cheapest weapon of all. Wondered how long it would take......
I guess they're not ruling out a careless chain-smoker.

I have no idea who it might be, but revenge as a motive keeps coming to mind.....
There should be “shoot on sight” orders out for those arsonists. Instead the authorities are afraid to even get suspicious.
