I don't know how I feel about this. I think a third party would guarantee an Obama win, but should Romney get the nomination? I know for certain that Romney is a progressive(he said so himself) and I just cannot do that.

It would have to be Trump over Romney for me.

But I like how Santorum is rising in the polls. I want a real conservative and Santorum is just that.

Well a couple things wrong with your theory.

First, Trump is more progressive than Romney over all issues and certainly has supported more, well, flaming liberals over his career.

Second, you admit a Trump run would guarantee an Obama victory, yet you would support Trump who would say he is running because he is the only one who can beat Obama. There’s a disconnect there.

Third, Santorum is mostly rising in Iowa. The entire Iowa caucus voting block will be smaller than a typical congressional district.

The mentality of folks who’d consider ushering Obama into a 2nd term, by wasting their vote on some 3rd party loser, mystifies me.

The same Pero tantrum votes gave us Bill Clinton.

I know I have been sitting here testing all of the tea leaves, and I observe two huge reactions.

1) Anybody but Obama, and

2) Anybody but Romney.

I am starting to believe our electorate is ripe for someone who is neither Obama or Romney

If he runs, he has to know it may cause Obama to win by default.

Right. Trump for president? I would vote for Romney. If Trump actually won I would give up on this country and politics, cancel all my subscriptions and never vote again.

Trump lives on the buzz. He will show ankle, but never run.
The aim is to get publicity for the Trump brand and mollify his wounded ego over the debate brush off.

Other than perhaps having a bigger ego and mouth, how is Trump better than Romney? Hate Romneycare? Trump supported single payer, Canadian style socialized medicine. Hate the fact that Romney is a political chameleon? Trump is that and more considering how much money he's poured into the pockets of liberal Democrats including $50,000 just last year to Obama's former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Trump also happens to be the biggest of buddies with Schumer and all the rest of the northeastern Democrat bigshots. His conversion to the Republican party last what? A year or so. Trump is no conservative and is probably more "progressive" overall than RINO Mitt.

Bad as Romney is, at least he is somewhat beholden to conservative voters. Trump is out for Trump - he is a liar and a political clown.

With the faultering stage of wannabes on the GOP side, I don’t think any of them could win against Obama. After all, the MSM/Dems have 10 months to rehabilitate and resurrect The One into his Second Coming.

The most we might hope for is retaining the House [and that is shakey] and gaining the Senate [that may not be the shoo-in it seemed just a few months ago] and have four years of gridlock for Obama’s 2nd term.

The worst thing about hoping for gridlock is that the Republicans have a history of folding and bending over.

The outlook just isn’t as bright as it appeared in the Spring.

Third party run is an Obama dream come true. Between the unions, aggrieved minorities, welfare suckers, brainstem liberal whites, feminists, and other various groups receiving more from the government than they pay in, he's got 45% of the vote locked up.

Trump hasn’t a prayer against anyone, without a party to support him. My guess is he decided not to run in the GOP primary because he didn’t want his dirty laundry exposed.

If he runs as an independent, Obama’s team will leave him alone. They will KNOW his only function will be to draw votes from the GOP candidate and assure an Obama victory. And THAT he most assuredly will do - another Ross Perot in action.

I think a third party would guarantee an Obama win,

Wrong. If Romney is the GOP nominee, a third-party run will guarantee a third-party win.

Romney and Obama will have to split the commie vote.

Trump will only get enough support to guarantee an Obama win. He wouldn't even get a fraction of the support that Ross Perot got.

I don't like Romney; he was my Gov. for one term, but I'll vote for him in a heartbeat, if it's a choice between him and Obama. If we can get a more conservative Congress, it would be a win, all around.

Great.....
