In session for a whopping 1 minute, 28 seconds, the Senate today passed by unanimous consent the updated, slightly tweaked version of the two-month payroll tax cut extension.
Hailing this as a new day, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., celebrated and then appointed, as the compromise called for, his designees for the conference committee to negotiate a year-long payroll tax deal. The appointees are: Sens. Max Baucus, D-Mont.; Ben Cardin, D-Md.; Jack Reed, D-R.I.; and Bob Casey, D-Pa.
,,,,,
Reid left with departing messages to Republicans: His message to the Republican leader in the Senate should really be interpreted as for the House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio: Most everything we do around here is based on trust, Reid said. Thats how we get things done. And I want everyone to understand how much I appreciate Mitch McConnell sticking by the arrangement, the agreement that we made.

Do a Ron Paul with the MSM Idiots but also have some choice words for them before walking out. The MSM knows we know they are bias Liberals but the one thing they hate worse than being one is being called one to their face.
The gop is putty in reids hands, they are a sickening bunch of pukes.
You are so right! We have to get more tea party folks elected before the professional politicians ruin them. I’m sick of their crap.
And there you have it. The establishment (RATS & RINOs) outnumber the new members of the House. They will unite to teach the Tea party members to behave and get in line.
No, you are not.
And am I the only one who's asking why did the Senate pass a bill with only a two-month extension -- which turned out to be totally unworkable, anyway?
What was the purpose of that?
And why did Mitch McConnell and the GOP Senate support it?
The House's position was totally defensible. They had passed a 12-month extension. Whereupon, they should've gone home -- leaving it to the Senate to pass the House bill...or be blamed for not passing the extension.
Conclusion: The GOP Senate helped create the problem. The GOP House then didn't handle the resultant situation well.
To teach the freshmen Congrss Critters a lesson about who is really in charge.
Sure the freshman have learned that the RATS are the enemy of the state and can NEVER be trused.
The thing is the politics of the issue was behind the Republicans! If they had taken the time to speak out and tell people what the bill was about....Instead they let the Democrats and Media frame the Issue. The Democrats do this every year around Christmas when most of Congress wants to go home and be with their families to get their way. I expect Christmas 2012 to be MUCH worse. A lame duck Senate with a Lame duck President......Things are going to get BAD
Tell the Senate to take it or leave it just like they did to the House even if it means the Government shuts down.
I don't expect that to happen with “leadership” like Boehner.
I see your point and get your frustration.
However Bonier, Ryan and Cantor were talking until they practically needed resucitation but it was NOT reported in the news. It got zero, nada, no coverage.
What we saw the the US media equivalent of North Korea’s coverage of Kim Jong Il’s passing.
The Pubbies did nothing wrong. In fact they did a lot of things right. But they don’t control the news.
Which is expected but EVEN CONSERVATIVES were hoodwinked by this or didn’t notice. That includes conservative news commentators, which I haven’t heard a single one mention this.
Make me wish Rush wasn’t on vacation.
Yeah, and Obama just said at his Press announcement that he wants Congress to "work together" to extend it through "all of 2012."
WTF?
Harry Reid with the help of the RINOs will give Obama another gift with another short extension and then another and then another.
With coverage like this they might only renew it for a couple of weeks or days. That way the LSM can give ‘RATs victories every other day.
Which is to be expected but again what is concerning is that even conservatives are not standing with the PUBBIES who stood up to this. They didn’t do anything wrong. In fact they did a lot of things right. But with coverage like this there was no way to come out on top.
I really am just hoping for a collapse at this point. We deserve it and earned it.
This nation is finished.
My hatred for obama and these communists is off the charts. Same for Boerhner, mcConnell and all the other idiots in the GOP.
What a wortheless party.
And we get to do this all over again in two months. Same ponzinomics all over again.
Reid is a political pile of dung. I detest him more than O turd. It pissed me off to no end the dolts in Nevada relected this scum bag. He has been lining his pockets there for years. His just a poor boy from Searchlight rails on me as he yuks it up in his condo at the Ritz Carlton. Just like one of his predecessors when he led the senate, he says one thing in DC and something quite different in Nv.
