when you're talking about Glenn Beck now he actually, the other day, called you a progressive on FOX Business channel. What do you say to that sort of claim?"
Gingrich: "I don't know. It depends on what standard you're using, you know? The fact is I balanced the budget for four consecutive years. And we did so by cutting taxes and increasing employment so people went back to work, they left welfare, they left food stamps, they left unemployment, they left Medicaid. Who else has that record of achievement? I worked with Reagan in '79, '80. I worked with Reagan in defeating the Soviet Empire. I think those are relatively conservative credentials."

Still evil.
I don’t see how any conservative could, in good conscience, vote for a man like Newt Gingrich.
Newt’s Skeleton Closet:

“No, you will be the same loser-troll you are now.”
A loser-troll who doesn’t sell out his principles and everything he claims to believe at the drop of a hat. I can live with that.
You call Newt a “progressive” and what do you call the other Mass. flip-flopper running as a Republican????
Oh, and what do you call obama
What do you call Ron Paul
What do you call glen beck?????
A vote for Newt is a vote for Leftism.
A vote for Obama is a vote for Leftism.
Which one should I vote for?
The Leftist or the Leftist?
“I dont see how any conservative could, in good conscience, vote for a man like Newt Gingrich”
It’s simple.
He is the last Conservative standing.
...and the people who you support Santorm/Bachmn are such political lightweights that they can’t get 5% of the vote between them.
Have some java and wake up to the reality.
You mean he is the last candidate who vaguely sounds like a conservative standing.
The Gingrich Jobs and Prosperity Plan
America only works when Americans are working. Newt has a pro-growth strategy similar to the proven policies used when he was Speaker to balance the budget, pay down the debt, and create jobs. The plan includes:
1. Stop the 2013 tax increases to promote stability in the economy. Job creation improved after Congress extended tax relief for two years in December. We should make the rates permanent.
2. Make the United States the most desirable location for new business investment through a bold series of tax cuts, including: Eliminating the capital gains tax to make American entrepreneurs more competitive against those in other countries; Dramatically reducing the corporate income tax (among highest in the world) to 12.5%; Allowing for 100% expensing of new equipment to spur innovation and American manufacturing; Ending the death tax permanently.
3. Move toward an optional flat tax of 15% that would allow Americans the freedom to choose to file their taxes on a postcard, saving hundreds of billions in unnecessary costs each year. This optional flat tax system will preserve deductions on charitable giving and home ownership, and create a new personal deduction of $12,000 for every American. This deduction is well above the current poverty level, ensuring that this new system does not unfairly target the poor.
4. Strengthen the dollar by returning to the Reagan-era monetary policies that stopped runaway inflation and reforming the Federal Reserve to promote transparency.
5. Remove obstacles to job creation imposed by destructive and ineffective regulations, programs and bureaucracies. Steps include: Repealing the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which did nothing to prevent the financial crisis and is holding companies back from making new investments in the U.S; Repealing the Community Reinvestment Act, the abuse of which helped cause the financial crisis; Repealing the Dodd-Frank Law which is killing small independent banks, crippling loans to small businesses and crippling home sales; Breaking up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, moving their smaller successors off government guarantees and into the free market; Replacing the Environmental Protection Agency with an Environmental Solutions Agency that works collaboratively with local government and industry to achieve better results; and Modernizing the Food and Drug Administration to get lifesaving medicines and technologies to patients faster.
6. Implement an American energy policy that removes obstacles to responsible energy development and creates jobs in the United States.
7. Balance the budget by growing the economy, controlling spending, implementing money saving reforms, and replacing destructive policies and regulatory agencies with new approaches.
8. Repeal and replace Obamacare with a pro-jobs, pro-responsibility health plan that puts doctors and patients in charge of health decisions instead of bureaucrats.
9. Fundamental reform of entitlement programs with the advice and help of the American people. Read an extended white paper on this here
“You mean he is the last candidate who vaguely sounds like a conservative standing.”
No. The other conservatives are at less than 5% support.
Gingrich is the THE Last Conservative Standing.
and it is always the same usual paid staffers of other candidates or a couple of supporters who just can;t seem to wrap their head that their guy will never and has never been in the running.
It is so predictable to see the usual names doing the same crap.
If their candidate is not voted in then they will start demanding that people need to stay at home etc/
nail on head.
Always the same few posters and it is becoming boring as they seem more interested in attacking our side than obama’s/
“..I balanced the budget for four consecutive years.... I worked with Reagan in defeating the Soviet Empire..” Partial Newt quotes.
Wow, what a guy. If he unbuttons his shirt, I’ll bet there is an S with a cape in back underneath. Do you know how to spell “EGOMANIAC”. I don’t think this is distorting his record. It is his own words.
I’m not a Newt hater. He came in the top two in most of the debates until his wetback alliance in the one of the last ones. BUT, his record is NOT one of a solid conservative. I do believe the guy is a trainwreck that will cause disaster at election time.
Even if all the Palin haters, Perry haters, Cain haters, Bachmann haters, Paul haters, Newt haters, and Romney haters unite behind whoever is the last man (or woman) standing, defeating Obummer is not gonna be easy. All of those that say it’s my way or the highway, will be responsible for the country’s final demise if their sitting out results in the election of Obama.
Regardless of who becomes the nominee, we will be left with a flawed candidate and we might as well belly up to the bar to that fact.
RE: Is Beck blatantly backing Romney?
Yes, of course he is:
Step 1: “Back” Michelle Bachmann to steal votes from Newt
Step 2: Threaten to back Paul over Newt
Step 3: Come right out and say you are for the Mormon team.
I read the other day that Beck endorsed Bachmann? Who knows. That would be a semi-validation of the theory that he supports Romney because MR is a Mormon, Bachmann is his stalking horse, and Beck doesn’t want to seem to be endorsing his fellow Mormon.
Honestly, does anyone besides Beck care what he says/thinks/does? He was something of a media curiosity back in’09, but I’d never rely on his endorsement, or criticisms.
Smirk all you want about Gingrich’s record as Speaker. Smirk all you want about his alliance with Reagan. Facts are facts. He did all the things he says he did. Bubba Clinton is so proud of Newt’s balanced budgets and welfare reform he takes credit for them himself. So you tell me who the egomaniac is?
The fact is, Newt took on big goverment and whittled it down a notch. He pissed off a lot of powerful interests along the way which is why they filed dozens of false charges against him and demonized him in the press. Just like Sarah Palin after she took on the insiders. Ring a bell?
Newt was Gingrichized before Palin was Palinized. He was Grinched before Dich Cheney was Darth Vadered. He knows the left and the elite’s battle tactics and he’s going to take them on once again. Which makes your spouting of the lefty talking points on Gingrich so disturbing. “EGOMANIAC”? please tell me you didn’t think up that one on your own.
The story makes perfect sense this day and age, but I don’t think it applies to this election.
Are you suggesting that anyone who doesn’t think Newt is the answer should be banned before a single vote has been cast? I was under the impression that this was a conservative forum not a single-candidate vehicle, and never has been.
I think I am right about that.
I think Beck is a nutcase like Ron Paul. Romney is far too leftist, but on some days Newt and he agree on a lot.
Newt is unreliable, he changes positions on the fly, without warning.
That is why he is dangerous to any conservative cause, they don’t mean squat to Newt. They are merely bargaining positions. He backed the individual mandate to thwart Hillarycare, there were no conservative principles involved except being stomped on.
He will likely do the same on every single conservative issue. He already said there were parts of ObamaCare worth keeping, he already backs amnesty and called for a new jobs program for inner city kids....
believe me, he is just getting warmed up.
I think conservatives are going to have one hell of a bad hangover if they take this political whore home.
I do like Paul, otherwise I agree with every word you just posted.
