In John Heilemann's cover story "2012=1968?," he wonders whether Occupy Wall Street protesters will do to Charlotte's Democratic National Convention in the summer of 2012 what demonstrators did to the Chicago DNC in 1968. The North Carolina city, sometimes called the "Wall Street of the South," is not taking any chances, and is already working to pass an ordinance that would make occupying downtown spaces with tents a "public nuisance," in addition to banning "noxious substances," padlocks, and other camping equipment. The fact that it would knock out the city's current overnight demonstrators is an added bonus.

Make them all delegates.
Abandoning their own children ... disgraceful.
Ban the freeloaders - or just the smell?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Occupy Wall Street is anti-Obama. When this first started in Manhattan, we were shown anti-Obama signs and interviews. As it grew, those were broomed under the carpet and Obama was shown as one in solidarity with them. Many of them had voted for him, and were rewarded with long-term unemployment; like Michael Moore, they felt duped and had no problem saying so.
Many of these people are lefties, but they are NOT Obama supporters (anymore).
There is just such a logical disconnect there. If you are a leftist, you should love Obama. You will never get a president that far to the left of the political spectrum under our current system. I guess they like the idea of socialism, they just don’t like its results.
Scary thought! One of these Occupy leftists could be on a Democrat Ticket one day...and Occupy would be counsidered a resume booster for them....I Pray it never happens(but then I never thought we would elect a Socialist/Marxist like Obama!)
In the northeast there are many “social liberals” that are “fiscal conservatives” (like Giuliani). Many Dems were quite comfortable voting for him (obviously many did), and social conservatives were not (and didn’t). These people aren’t socialists (as evidenced by their discomfort with having the black homeless show up - the prime beneficiaries of our socialist nirvana); they are social liberals that don’t want their income taxes raised to pay for more black people.
In simpler terms, they are “leftist” when it comes to divorce, abortion, etc., but they are not when they have to share their earnings.
This could get interesting.
I believe the marxist pig is beginning his "night of Long Knives"...First the union desired Keystone pipe line and now union backed Occupy Smell Street.
Is it that time in which he canshow his true colors and get rid of those that got him and Daddy Soros here?
NIMBYs
There was a similar movement in 2008. Google “Recreate 68”. It cut both ways, Repub and Dummy.
OHH I want see Laker fan riot between Occupy people and Demo delegates that be great TV viewing LOL!
.. described by an observer at Occupy Seattle as being the smell of “human bowel and dog”.
It is like the left is ripping itself apart,I think that could possibly be the best part of the Bush legacy.
“I have to surmise that they are Obama supporters.”
Whatever people think of their roots, these people are costing Obama votes. Even if the architects of the protests didn’t intend this, it is what is happening. While some portray them as dupes of the left, Obama & the Dems see them as the threat that they are. They may do to Obama what Nader did to Gore - cost him an election.
If 2012 is so close that OWS costs Mr. Obama the election, something is terribly wrong here.
