His politically-calculated "conversion" to Catholicism irks me the most.

If we have to go the "anybody but Romney" route, I'd rather go with CFR-Rick than Noot.

This thread is great to expose myths propagated by the intellectuals, politicos and media.

One thing I would like to add to the discourse is that the Arabs of Palestine were told by the neighboring Arab states to get out of the way while the new 'Jewish state' was wiped off the map by overwhelming Arabic military supremacy. [Watch the Kirk Douglas movie Cast a Giant Shadow]

Chris Wallace completely stunned me when he told Herman Cain that the Arab Palestinians were forced to leave Palestine... stunned because I thought Fox was above such propaganda mischief and lies.

Another lie that gets great broadcast currently is that this Arab/Jewish thing has been going on for thousands of years. That is a bald-faced lie. After the fall of the Jewish state in 70AD et fol, the Arabs across the Near East and North Africa were most supportive of their Jewish neighbors. Even in the Islamic Ottoman Empire [see previous in this thread] Jews lived peacefully in Palestine. . . . Nor, during this long period, following the advent of Islam, was Jerusalem claimed as anything special by the Muslims. All this hostility began to take form about the time of the Balfour Declaration and subsequently.

This whole mythology much reminds me of all the myths about slavery and civil rights. For one thing, it was the Repubbies and NOT the Democraps that passed the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Prior to the War Between the States black people were also slave holders. In fact, it was coastal African blacks that captured black families in inland villages and sold their catch to Arab slave traders. It is absurd to believe that American plantation owners were sailing to Africa to capture slaves.

Furthermore, many European whites that came to the New World came as slaves - 'indentured servants' if you prefer. Blacks were by far not the only slaves brought to the New World.

AND - just to keep haranguing so merrily - I say War Between the States rather than civil war because a 'civil war' is defined as two opposing factions fighting to gain control of a country; even an uneducated 10-year-old knows that the South was not trying to gain control of the United States... it was trying to secede from the United States.

One of the great losses of that war was the power of state's rights, whatever else you might think of that unfortunate disagreement.

Other than that, Senator Amidala, what did you think of Anakin Skywalker? :-/

I agree with Ron Paul on lots of issues—Von Mises site is one of my favorite.

The only thing I have against Paul is his lack of realization that Values—Virtue—is essential in all free Republics.

Machiavelli—the greatest Republican historian of all time—whom even was quoted by the Founders—said that Virtue is absolutely necessary in the military and for a free Republic. If the people are not virtuous—then it is over.

Paul does not condemn sodomy. He thinks that evil behavior is “morally neutral”, acceptable. That behavior is always evil....it uses the body for lust and as an object which removes human dignity.

The basis of our Constitution and the philosophy of our legal system is based on Just Law—which is only God’s Law—saying Supra Positive Law declares null and void those laws (like the Nuremberg laws) which are in disagreement with God’s Laws where Natural Rights originate.

By declaring sodomy is “good” and a “right” you destroy Judeo/Christian Ethics. You force God’s Laws OUT of the military and insert twisted irrational thinking of the Barney Franks or the Hitler’s. It is antithetical to Virtue. Always will and even according to Machiavelli—it will destroy a Republic.

Paul didn’t read Machiavelli, or Aristotle, or Cicero or John Locke or Thomas Reid—or James Madison, Washington, Adams, Jefferson, etc. if he doesn’t understand this foundation, ESSENTIAL part of a Republic.

He thinks you can have a mob vote in a state to go against Natural Law and children’s Natural Rights to biological parents and force this irrational—evil paradigm to destroy the Judeo/Christian religions and adopt pagan/atheist/occultist/muslim traditions of sodomy is good and pederasty is always the root of that behavior, because it is learned and habituated as Afghanistan behaviors prove and the study of history—such as Ancient Greece. Remember—Democracies, even the Athenian type, are nothing but mob rule—tyranny of the minority by a majority.

There has to be a Standard of Right and Wrong....the Judeo/Christian one has been the one which created the most free and just society in the history of man. Zero wants that paradigm destroyed and is inserting the atheist/pagan/marxist standards....by sexualizing our children with homosexual propaganda—lies to destroy rational thought.

Paul does not understand Childhood Development—that is so obvious to me if he allows a legal system to force worldview opposite of our Founders. A Republic will not exist under paganism—there is no Absolutes—it is who ever is in power who decides Right and Wrong.

Paul thinks you can have a Basketball game where everybody makes up there own rules (no absolutes)-—you won’t ever get a game played that way—it will end up in fights every time. Chaos.....and Paul just doesn’t get it.

Correction-—we did have successful Republics with paganism. But that was Aristotle’s Ethics and Ciceronian ideals—that which stated Virtue is necessary and actually defined Just Law as God’s Law==both were heavily based on Natural Law Theory (so is our laws)-there were teleological design to human beings.

Just Laws never deviated with Natural Law in Cicero’s definition of Just Law.
Natural Law always presumed a “Designer”—the Supreme Being—One God—although they were pagan, many believed in a most powerful god.

Christianity perfected the ideas of Aristotle and Cicero by adding the Theological virtues to Aristotle’s virtues....we ended up getting rid of slavery and giving rights to women like the Ancient world never did—and dignity to children. Sodomy of boys was really prevalent in society until the Judeo/Christian Ethics became the norm which pushed those activities out of the “acceptable” category. Theology and philosophy argued that the practice is evil and destructive on a lot of different levels.

Cut welfare?

No, just changed the elligibility rules, and the benefits of that were cancelled by the next budget, as usual.

Again I state that this is one of the best threads on the twists and turns of Middle East history I've had the privilege to read on FR .

Thanks, Bob, for your excellent tutorial on Jewish/Arab "fact and fiction".....not to mention the data on the Civil War and the Slave Trade.

Thanks also to the many freepers on this thread who are adding to the intelligent, civil discourse. I'm glad I clicked on it this morning. So many details that were new to me.

I'm now ready to accept the appointment as Secretary of State in the new Republican administration!

Is it reckless to state the truth? Maybe in our politically correct society, but most people are sick of it. And STILL the LSM are baffled by Newt’s surge.

Lol

Gingrich is right. The Palestinians have a state - its called Jordan and they should all go there, or, better yet, a place MUCH HOTTER. They might even run into their Pedophile Prophet there.

This is interesting. You started me Googling, and I have actually learned some things I didn’t know about Ron Paul (Thanks!). I’m sure you & I aren’t coming from exactly the same perspective on sin, but I do believe homosexuality is a pathological behavior and should be discouraged by society.

I will keep looking into this, though it probably won’t change my preference for Ron Paul because: 1) The top issue for me is SMALLER GOVERNMENT. Paul is BY FAR the best on this. Everything else is way secondary; this is THE ISSUE for me. 2) Paul values freedom above all. I have a lot of respect for that. It’s EXTREMELY rare among politicians. I understand your concern about values. It’s possible that Paul personally shares your Christian values but believes inculcating values isn’t the proper job of government. It’s always hard for people to wrap their minds around the idea that you can disapprove of an activity, but at the same time defend people’s right to do it. I am strongly against gay marriage (which I think is an absurdity) but I’m also against anti-sodomy laws (excessive intrusion of government in private lives).

Anyway I will be learning more about Paul’s positions. He’s not perfect, but he’s way ahead of the pack.

BTW something you said earlier about Jews: “since every other nation has refused to allow them to integrate and live in their countries” - actually the USA was pretty good to my great-grandparents.

I was not including America in the exclusion of Jews—although they did put limits on how many Jews would be allowed into the elite universities—no more than 10%.

That always amazed me—that 3% of the population would easily dominate over 10% of university admissions in 1900— because of intelligence.

Anyways, like I say, Paul is great on many issues. I would like it better if he renewed the Founding principles of the country which states that Virtue is necessary for a free nation. Aristotle stated that Virtue was the reason for education—all the Founders believed that also. It is crucial for freedom.

Our school books back then were Biblical based and every lesson was a moral lesson based on Judeo/Christian Ethics. It is how the Founders wanted it. Local control—parent’s hired teachers (not certified by Central Government).

Machiavelli stated that virtue is the key for a Republican form of government in his Discourses. The Cultural Marxists (Marcuse particularly) urged the corruption of morals as the way to collapse America and all its institutions.

But, if Paul gets rid of the DOE, that would be a great help. Government schools are a huge corruptor of the minds and IQ of children. Paul will definitely steer us in a better direction and give us more freedom. We just can’t have government laws giving special rights to behavior urges that are destructive to human beings and health and medical facilities. It is irrational and Reason has got to be put back into Law, otherwise it is arbitrary and evil law.

I remember many years ago reading the documents at the close of World War II about the Palestinian Problem. I kept asking who were thesePalestinians they’re wanting to relocate? I found out they were referring to the Jews scattered around the world. They were forming a new nation, Israel, and we’re going to settle these “Palestinians” in their ancestral homeland.

***. . . data on the Civil War and the Slave Trade***

Forgive me for dragging you back to this thread. Ask just about anyone what they know about how Arlington National Cemetery came to be and all they will say is, 'It is the place where we bury our honored dead.'

In fact, Arlington was Robert E. Lee's estate, facing the Capitol right across the river. Apparently, Lee did not really 'donate' the land, but he graciously let it go.

If one visits the Lee Mansion on the estate grounds, they will discover paintings of blacks dressed up in Confederate uniforms, fighting along side with white soldiers. Factually, the U.S. Army did not integrate until after WWII. In my youth in the South there were 'reunions' of black families that had war veterans in the Confederate Army... they showed off their progenitor's uniforms and medals.

Make what you wish of all this, but the point is that the public is being totally brainwashed concerning so many important issues facing us.

***I'm now ready to accept the appointment as Secretary of State***

Sounds great! Madam Secretary, take a letter...' ;-)
