huge mistake for Perry. This might be his only opening yet to make a comeback...putting together a decent performance in a debate sure to get lots of attention. Also, it will be a different fell from other debates where he has fallen woefully short.
WoW, who’s that leave, Bachmann, Santorum and Newt?
100% agree. WTH?!?!
This would be a great opportunity to slam Mittens and Newt for being phonies. Why in the world would you walk away from that opportunity when you are behind?
Good point but Perry sucks so much at debates he probably figures he can’t stand up to ridicule from Trump.
Of all the candidates, Perry needs this the most. At the very least, he needs the practice.
Stupid move.
Newt is using these debates as free air-time. Smart move.
Agreed. A missed opportunity, especially for someone who desperately needs to recover lost ground.
No. This was smart.
The Donald is holding this “debate” for self- aggrandizement. He can’t get enough of it.
Agreed, not a good decision.
Doesn’t matter, He’s only window dressing anyways.
We don’t know everything. He has a reason.
Trump is not going to "ridicule" any of the debaters. To me, this is Perry throwing in the towel, at least in Iowa.
Why would a serious candidate sit down at a “debate” with a “moderator” who is considering a 3rd party run?
Hello??
Actually, this could turn out to be a great debate without Mr. Plastic, Mr. Forgetful, and the cranky old doctor.
I’ll be watching !
I bet after it is over, the “no’s” will wish they had participated. Don’t forget, Newsmax will be involved.
You’re right.
Good thinking by Perry’s team. No point in being a part of Trump’s Traveling Ego Circus...leave that for the less serious contenders...
No, Perry has nothing to lose. Unless he pulls off a great performance, he isn’t going to win. He gains nothing by no showing. Mitt at least has New Hampshire.
Which would not be particularly bad for him.........
Big mistake, in terms of perception, if nothing else. I can understand it because Perry isn’t quick on his verbal feet, while Gingrich is. But on the other hand, if Perry could have defined some differences, he might have done himself some good.
Gingrich and Perry have similar plans and outlooks, so voters are going to chose on the basis of which one is best able to defend them. Romney has stayed ahead (until recently) by not saying anything and not engaging with the other candidates, but I don’t think it will work for Perry.
