Republicans on a private Republican National Committee conference call with allies warned Tuesday that party surrogates should refrain from personal attacks against President Barack Obama, because such a strategy is too hazardous for the GOP.
"We're hesitant to jump on board with heavy attacks" personally against President Obama, Nicholas Thompson, the vice president of Tarrance Group, a Republican polling firm, said on the call. "There's a lot of people who feel sorry for him."
Recent polling data indicates that while the president still suffers significantly low job approval ratings, voters still give "high approval" to Obama personally, Thompson said.
Voters "don't think he's an evil man who's out to change the United States" for the worse--even though many of the same survey respondents agree that his policies have harmed the country, Thompson said. The upshot, Thompson stressed, is that Republicans should "exercise some caution" when talking about the president personally.

You can’t even be seriously damaged. But people leading the cause will be destroyed. Look what they did to Herman Cain and all he wanted to do was run against Obama. (I think Cain, who is authentically “black,” patriotic and American down to the bone, scared the liberals to death.)
All you have to do is run an ad letting voters know that every time there is bad news, Zero runs to the golf course or goes on vacation and gets in several rounds of golf.
Attack Obama on his record and his style like any other bastid president who has deserved it during our history.

I have frequently said that there is no need to choose between the theories that Obama is stupid and incompetent, or that he is evil and destructive. He is both. They are not incompatible.
And I would add a third component. He is insane. Malignant narcissism.
Should we feel sorry for him? All well and good, once he is shoveled out of the White House. Give him a nice padded cell and some nice attendants to keep him happy. Even let him out to play golf, with an ankle monitor and a few guards.
But the White House is not the place for people that you feel sorry for because they are all screwed up. Molested and abandoned as a child, drunken lout of a father, self-centered mother who couldn’t be bothered to have him around, Stalinist pederast to tutor him as a boy, brought up by Communists, taught to love himself and hate everyone else. Terrorists and mobsters and gay bathsters to complete the job in Chicago.
OK, he needs help. But not the presidency.
I am convinced the Republican establishment craves minority status.
I went independent after the lame-duck disaster last winter. This just reminded me why it was a wise move. Those damned RNC elitists have all the spine of goose down.
