Trump to moderate Republican debate
NY Slimes ^ | December 2, 2011 | JEREMY W. PETERS

It’s officially a reality television Republican primary now.

Donald Trump is pairing up with Newsmax, the conservative magazine and news Web site, to moderate a presidential debate in Des Moines on Dec. 27.

“Our readers and the grass roots really love Trump,” said Christopher Ruddy, chief executive of Newsmax Media. “They may not agree with him on everything, but they don’t see him as owned by the Washington establishment, the media establishment.”

Mr. Trump’s role in the debate, which will be broadcast on the cable network Ion Television, is sure to be one of the more memorable moments in a primary season that has already delivered its fair share of circus-like spectacle.

I’ll be glad to watch this one. Trump is clear and concise.

That might make it worth watching. Trump agrees with these guys probably more than he disagrees, so I think his questions will be fair, but still challenging.

I think it will make for a good debate.

Trump to moderate Republican debate

At first I thought this meant he was running again, I didn't realize it literally meant he was moderating a debate!

Well an ex-candidate is a better choice than the MSM talking heads.

In fact, that ought to be SOP for the GOP! If you quit the race, you get to moderate the debates!

Very cool! I know it’s a bit showy - but I like Trump and I’m willing to bet he won’t be throwing any softballs!

Now that debate will be good. Let Romney try his bs, mealy-mouthed answers with Trump.

It will be a shame if this debate is not on a station that can be accessed by ordinary Americans who don’t have cable or satellite TV.

It could be one of the best debates by far.

Maybe I need to get out more, but I'm thinking that there are very few "ordinary" Americans these days who don't at least have basic cable.

They should have done this from the beginning, instead of having the MSM, who is in the tank for Obama, moderating.

Agreed. This will certainly be an upgrade from the MSM bath house catamites.

Does basic cable include “Ion Television”? I’ve never heard of it. Hope the debate is streamed but if Trump makes it more about himself than the candidates I’ll turn it off.
