en. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) said that Newt Gingrich would be a "heaven-sent" nominee for President Obama's reelection campaign and that there was "silent cheering" from the Obama campaign about his emergence in the GOP race. The senator went on to dismiss the former Speaker as a "bomb thrower" in a call with reporters Thursday.
"I was in the House with Newt, as a matter of fact, years ago. I can remember him being a bomb thrower at that time," Harkin said. "One of those people always lobbing things around - I thought at that time, in his early career in the House, he was irresponsible at that time."
Harkin went on to say that while he has "never met a more undisciplined person," he admitted that Gingrich was an "intriguing individual."

Is that what Mitt looks like without his makeup?
even GOP voters do not like coronations. It is possible MITT would stay in and fight on despite weeks of defeat. Not sure.
I guarantee it will be interesting, but cannot say for sure what the interesting surprises will be after FLA.
Why is this so hard to believe? Nobody in the media is attacking Newt. there is a reason for this. The Obmaa team DOES NOT fear Gingrich. Just because Harkin is an idiot, doesn’t mean this isn’t fact. Try to think outside of your little boxes for a change....Newt will get crushed and they know it.
Yes, his name is Herman Cain
Love that photo.
Every time I see it, it begs the question: "Who could possibly appear starstruck by the visage of Daniel Ortega?"
Mrs. Harkin looks like a simpering schoolgirl beholding the latest teenybopper fad.
“Is that what Mitt looks like without his makeup?”
No, he’s better looking that that.
Don’t bring up bomb thrower...might rekindle the curiosity of the American public as to why our Dear Leader launched his political career in the home of a domestic terrorist.
Yep and Barney Frank’s personal life, Pelosi corruption, Lee’s corruption and all the other dem tax cheats and liars that are “serving” out country. Whatever Newt may be, Obama, Michelle, and all the rest are much, much worse and it will be very easy to point it out. So what, Newt was married 3 times, so are alot of people.
Don’t think he’s gonna go McCain on us. He is where he is in the polls because people want someone on our side to finally call out Obama for what he is—a Saul Alinksy radical schooled by America haters and commies.
Ivy Leaguers are way over rated.
Gingrich has all the Rats afraid because Obama is the wildly unpopular socialist rat in the race. Gingrich may have bagage but he is a student of debate, he is a very effective communicator of Conservative ideas and how they can be used to fix the situations that the liberal policies have caused. I am loving it because the truth is going to be told on the national stage, Obama will be left to try and defend the last 80 years worth of liberal failed programs that are bankrupting America. There is no denying this and it is simple math you don’t need an MBA to figure out that the country is on an unsustainable fiscal path a path that is not curable by revenue increases and the only people that have ever seriously discussed solutions to the liberal problems plaguing America have been Conservatives. One look at www.usdebtclock.org
Tom Harkin is a communist.
But he’s probably right about the Democrats loving the prospect of running against Gingrich.
“Really? How do you explain what happened to Cain?”
That was new information for the public. Clinton damned near got scuttled when the first revelations came out, pre-’92, but then he and the Beast got on TV and smoothed things over. Beast basically gave him carte blanche and removed the issue. With Cain, everyone thought he was Mr. Clean, and then there were many claims (emphasis on that) over sexual harassment. That died down and then the allegation of an affair came up. Someone is VERY afraid of Cain, and has spent a LOT of money and effort to sink him. However, let’s say that he’s elected President and in a few years there’s word of another affair - it’ll just be more of the same, so people will ignore it (like with Clinton).
Oh, and “yes” I am aware of the incredible bias of the press and media - I know it’s always more difficult for Republican or conservative candidates, they’re always on the short end of the double-standard stick.
