A Navy ship commander pleaded guilty Friday to sexual assault and rape of two female sailors, and a military judge ordered his dismissal and sentenced him to more than three years in prison.

The CO of a destroyer rapes two of his sailors?? Long time since I’ve read the UCMJ but seems to me he’s lucky to get off with less than 20 yrs. What an abominable bastard.
Here’s what the current version of the UCMJ has to say:
“Rape and Rape of a Child: Dishonorable Discharge, death or confinement for Life, and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.”
There must be a lot more to it for him to get off with just 3 years and a Dishonorable.
Life sentence in Leavenworth would fit the bill. But in light of the inadequate sentence, after three years and release he should receive an abrupt visit by the father of one or both of the victims and a one way ticket to Hell.
That was the max punishment allowable.

And yet we hear nothing of removing females from ships.
Oh, well, to appease the PC gods, we can afford to throw away a few Navy Commanders.

I’d wager what really happen is that he used his position to coerce them into sex (as opposed to outright rape).
Why is it too much to ask that a male member of the military not forcibly rape a female crew member? Don’t you have higher expectations than that?
Well, if females are present and not guarded by their father and older brothers with AK-47s, you just have to expect any healthy man to rape them! Why else are they there? (/s, for the dimwitted ...)

Perhaps....everyone is human. However, the Commanding Officer?????? That really is UNSAT.
I’m a grandma. I’m an Army vet..’74 to ‘77. I joined when I was 25 yrs old, and far more street smart than most. During those years the Army accepted recruits that had a choice between joining the Army, or going to jail for “minor” crimes. Being in the military is not Scout camp.
I am not condoning rape, but there is a point where women have to take responsibility for their own choices.
I don’t go swimming with sharks. I’m not going to join the Navy and go on ship. Self preservation and wisdom have to kick in at some point.
