Hermain Cain: Are Freepers redefining "Reassessing"?
November 29, 2011 | This Just In

Posted on 11/29/2011 2:18:54 PM PST by This Just In

After enjoying my hot morning cup of brew, and visiting with the brood, I booted up the old pc and decided to catch up on the goings on in this world via Free Republic.

I always scan the BREAKING to see what may be an urgent report. As many of you had already discovered, my eyes fixed on this headline:

BREAKING: Cain ‘Reassessing’ Candidacy

I have grown accustom to reading such "news" with a healthy measure of skeptism, unlike many Cain haters, and Freepers who passionately campaign for other candidates on FR.

Of all the Conservative presidential candidates, Herman Cain had caught my attention. Unlike your typical politician, he has been introducing ideas that were unpopular among skeptics (which is always something to consider, especially when the skeptics are those who should be alarmed by Conservative platforms). Herman Cain presented viable solutions which were out of the norm of “conventional” wisdom. Naturally, this "article" captured my interest.

My first mistake was to read the comments. Many posts included your typical "I told you so....", or, "He's not denying it....", or, "Newts my man...", or, "Lady Gaga's wearing a dress made of Godfather Pizza's" nonsense.

So I visited NRO to find out what was really said, or so I hoped. One never knows. I was not surprised to discover that the headline, along with a lot of readers interpretations, were misleading.

To be fair to Mr. Cain, here is some of what he actually said concerning his "reassessing":

“That being said, obviously, this is cause for reassessment,” he continued. “As you know, during the summer we had to make some reassessments based upon our financial situation. We were able to hang in there; we reassessed the situation and kept on going. We also did a reassessment after the Iowa straw poll and we made another reassessment after the Florida straw poll. When the previous two accusations, false accusations, came about, we made another assessment. The way we handled those was, we continued on with our schedule. We made an assessment about what was going to happen to our support. But our supporters, and even some folks that we didn’t have as supporters, they stood with us, and they showed it not only in terms of their verbal support, they showed it in terms of their dollars.”

And this:

“Over the next several days, we are going to continue with the schedule as usual,” he said. “I’ve got a major speech tonight at Hillsdale College on national security and foreign policy, and I will deliver it with vim, vigor, and enthusiasm. And then tomorrow we’ve got some media appearances scheduled. So we’re going to continue until we complete our assessment over the next several days.”

Did you happen to note the details, Freepers? He elaborates his "reassessing". I'm sure many of you will resort to free-associating, or use your psychic abilities and read into what Mr. Cain actually said, but I'd rather take Herman Cain at his word rather than run around like drones repeating false information. Let us examine what's actually being stated.

We expect hyperbole, misinformation, fabrication, and lies from Liberals. We shouldn't aspire to imitate them.

Here's one of the threads that started the discussion earlier today (a flurry of duplicate threads were posted).

Thank you for the link. I visited Mr. Cain’s website. By all accounts (by Mr. Cain), he’s moving ahead.

Wow. An intelligent post about a current issue. Maybe there’s hope for Free Republic after all. I was afraid too many people who could read about, use reason, and express issues rationally were gone until I saw this post. And to be clear, this is not sarcasm.

I am still on the Cain Train. Having said that, he needs to get a better grip on foreign affairs and be more anticipatory regarding “gotcha” questions.

I am not at all worried about this latest allegation.

Clearly he was saying the team would continue to make mid-course adjustments. Wow, who knew.

As you stated, a lot of folks jumped on this like the media was something we trust right up there with God.

The “Breaking News: ‘edition’” was posted to the forum four times over a few hours. Good grief.

Smart move. Cain and Bachmann have been swapping places back and forth in my mind with Santorum holding a place as an acceptable alternate. Oddly enough, Despite Bachmann being my preferred candidate, I will vote for Cain in the Michigan primary

As far as I'm concerned, supporters of anybody but Mitt are fools to want Cain out of the race because there are places like Michigan where only Cain can effectively challenge Romney. Basically, pushing Cain out of the race is handing much needed primary votes to Romney.

Ronin, you and I are riding the same train-I’m not worried about this latest allegation. I wouldn’t be surprised to read this headline:

BREAKING: Herman Cain fathered Sarah Palin’s love child

This hits just keep on coming.

I neither hate Cain nor do I worship him.

I’d say right now there’s a 40/60 chance he’ll stay in the race and we’ll know for sure in the next 48 hours. Personally I hope he stays in. Even if he doesn’t win he’s good for the process.

Personally I am re-assessing the whole mess. It seems that we will end up with either a ‘RINO’ or a ‘wereRINO’ (A candidate that turns into a RINO when confront with certain positions like immigration.) It seems to me that the Republican Party didn’t learn a DAMN thing in 2010 and more than likely needs a good ‘shellacking’ in 2012 at least in the Presidental race. It might be a year to work hard to get good ‘Conservatives’ elected to the Senate and House and let the Whitehouse go where it will.

Mr Cain should get in the Obama ring and play his game:
Start with challenging his birthplace, eligibility for presidency, social security numbers, immigration records, pasports, school records, scholarship and his socialist grooming.
Just ask Obama to show original BC that his mama gave him and should have it, not fotoshoped “certifications”!!!
If anyone can do it and not be called racist, Cain can.

Why don’t you put out the actual transcript of the call and let people decide for themselves what Cain said?

I strongly disagree. These topics continue to be discussed. Everyone has picked sides.

Mr. Cain shouldn’t never shift the focus to Obama. The Liberals play the blame game, and it’s “Bush’s fault”. Herman Cain must tell everyone what he’s going to bring to the table.

I have not reassessed my position on voting for Cain. His policies speak to me more than any other candidate. That is other than Palin of which is not a candidate. So, Cain is still my man.

Gee you think I’ll get accused of sexual harassment? Peoples are soooo worried about Cain and I’m so frustrated with this situation. I will not be hoodwinked by these scoundrels!

As I said for years.....MSM is all about creating perceptions for the masses. They want to destroy Christian Ethics and Orthodox Judaism and anyone who is a true Christian or Orthodox Jew. Cain is such a person.

That said-—Marxism/Communism/islam/atheism/fascism/nazism/Darwinism/paganism/homosexuality/pederasty/child sacrifice, etc. is the basis of the Leftist’s Satanic bible.

So, anyone, whom the MSM is trying to destroy, is a man of principle....perfect, never, but one who will take a firm stand on Right and Wrong and Natural Law Theory and the Philosophy of the Constitution.....Yes....I like what Cain says and he is smart and humble enough to appoint intellectuals and Generals who are ethical and good for America.

No one person can know everything—that is why you have a Cabinet-—Those that think they know everything are dangerous and liars.

MSM has NEVER been about the Truth—they continually lie and slant to move the world into a one world Communist slave state. Anyone they embrace (zero) has to be evil because MSM is an organization that worships on the altar of Lucifer and intentionally corrupts and sexualizes children.
