Perry says will deport all detained illegal immigrants

..The Texas governor has faced criticism from Republican rivals like Mitt Romney for being "soft" on illegal immigrants, because those who live in Texas can attend state universities at the same cost as other Texas residents.

Perry, who made the remarks while campaigning in New Hampshire with a controversial Arizona sheriff, said that if elected he would immediately order the deportation of any illegal immigrant detained in the United States.

"My policy will be to detain and deport every illegal alien who is apprehended in this country," Perry said. "And we'll do it with an expedited hearing process so that millions of illegal aliens are not released into the general population with some hearing date down the road."

Non-violent illegal immigrants who are arrested are currently allowed to stay in the country while awaiting deportation hearings in immigration courts.

Perry was briefly among the front-runners for the Republican primary nomination after entering the race in August, but has been hit by attacks on his immigration views and stumbled in a series of poor debate performances.

Recent polls show Perry running in fourth or fifth place among Republicans nationally, and about sixth in the relatively moderate state of New Hampshire.

But ongoing problems with sexual misconduct accusations against rival Republican Herman Cain could arguably encourage some conservative voters to take a second look at Perry.

Perry's endorsement by Joe Arpaio, who claims to be "America's toughest sheriff," was designed to rebut criticism of his immigration policies.

Arpaio has drawn national attention for creating all-volunteer armed posses to sweep for illegal immigrants in Arizona's Maricopa County..

Iowans for Christian Leaders in Government Put Presser on Vander Plaats

........" YOU AND MR. GINGRICH SHARE A MUTUAL FRIEND IN JIM NUSSLE

In 2006, Mr. Nussle ran for Governor and asked that you serve as his running mate; an offer your willfully accepted.

In the nineties, Mr. Nussle’s current wife was working for Mr. Gingrich; while Mr. Gingrich’s current wife was working for a committee which Mr. Nussle served on in the House of Representatives.

Furthermore, both men were married when they began affairs with each other’s staff members – all while Mr. Gingrich was leading the investigation into Bill Clinton’s extramarital affair with Monica Lewinsky. This is an unfortunate irony.

More importantly, it points to a willful disregard of personal behavior and you are forever linked to both of these candidates in a way that is unacceptable for many of us who demand Christian leadership.

Which brings us to our next concern."....

If his intent were to detain and arrest every illegal who show themself he would be arresting and deporting every person that applies for his In State tuition for illegals.

Damn Rick don’t think we are all too stupid to see through this one.

M<aybe you should think this over. Not that I am against it mind you, but it doesn’t make sense for someone who approves of In state tuition.

So being against them getting cheaper tuition rates than out of state citizens is HEARTLESS but kicking them all out of the country isn’t?

Color me confused.

(But to be honest, with the Cain train derailing I’m still looking)

Get Perry to support the following and he automatically becomes the front-runner overnight:

1. Use E-Verify for all employment and all acquisition of Social Services
2. Build a complete border fence, not just strategic, but complete.

After he’s sent them to college with an in-state tuition discount?

If he will do it if he wins the Presidency,

Why can’t he do it NOW as a sitting Governor?
Notice he does not mention anything about the here and now.
What he can do NOW, as Governor.

Therefore, he is not serious. Just promises.

Would this include all illegal Texas residents who are attending universities with in-state tuition rates?

Perry won’t detain any of them, so we are back to square one.

How can he oppose e-verify and think we’ll ever take this seriously?

Pre-election talk and post-election action are two different animals with this guy. Take it from a Texan.

Good. He's catching up to Newt's plan, which has had this in it from the start.

I just listened to him on Sean Hannity. The one thing I always appreciate is how enthusiastic he is about governing. His plans are action plans not just discussing ideas in meetings. If he gets hung up on the silly gotcha moments, it’s almost understandable. For God’s sake, he’s a sitting governor. He doesn’t have the same mindset as a congressman, an ex-congressman, an ex-governor or a business-rescue executive. He’s head and shoulders above the fray and I’m suddenly beginning to see how he may have wanted to avoid it. As he said to Sean, how often do you have to debate? And we already have a smooth-talker in the White House. I hope the people will listen to what he’s saying.

Might as well get used to it. No one is going to build a continuous fence from Gulf to Ocean. Ought to be done, at least anywhere that the terrain allows for foot or vehicle traffic, but it will at best be around the more densely populated crossing points.

Not saying I agree with this, but I can read the tea leaves. "Strategic fencing" is the new buzzword appearing in a these plans.

The Governor of Texas is not in charge of deporting anybody, the feds are. Enforcing immigration law is something the feds have not seriously done since the 1950s. Eisenhower was the last President to make it a priority. The feds are also responsible for forcing the states to provide welfare, food stamps, free medical care and primary education to illegal alien kids. I think it is dead wrong, but I can kind of understand the thinking behind the tuition thing given that feds are doing pretty much everything possible to attract more illegals into the country.

If he serious about illegal immigration.

Why doesn’t he start doing something NOW.
After all, he still is the sitting Governor of Texas.
He could enact laws like Alabama.

The truth is, he is not serious. Only bogus campaign promises.

If you are running for president of the US, every four years. It is a fixture of the campaign. No sense pretending otherwise. Do what you got to do Rick. There aren't any shortcuts.

“After he’s sent them to college with an in-state tuition discount?”

Considering our current state of affairs, I wish you would listen to him regarding illegal immigrants. There is no one who has a better grasp or understanding of the failure of the federal government than Rick Perry. It’s so silly to chant the same old stuff day after day, isn’t it? Perry gets it. He’ll fix it. It has nothing to do with in-state tuition. People who go to college are not the ones who crawl thru the deserts or tunnels on their bellies.

But he can enact immigration laws like Alabama did...

That is, if he were really serious. But he is not serious.
