...."But "there is no path to citizenship in my Tuesday night comment on immigration," Gingrich told Newsmax. "There is a path to non-deportation for certified, very long-term community members but they would not have the right to vote."
The goal of his plan, Gingrich said, is to gain control of the border in 12 months while ensuring that English is the official language of the U.S. government. He wants even faster rules for the deportation of criminals and a guest worker program "outsourced to American Express, Visa or MasterCard to minimize fraud..."

Fool me once, shame on you!
Fool me four times, shame on me!
Unfortunately, for us with the age and experience to have seen it all before, up close and personal, and having use of a functioning brain, we know that what ultimately happens is not up to a president alone, although his embracing any kind of an amnesty program (by any other name) simply makes the problem worse.
Having said what he did, Ginrich has NO hope of ever getting my vote.
Name any current national problem, and I know that the billions (trillions?) spent on supporting illegal immigrants (welfare, tax 'refunds,', supplementary income, housing, health care, education) will always be a major component of the problem.
All of us who have traveled by air with children, or others depending on us, are familiar with the instructions in case of emergencies that we should care for ourselves first, if we hope to save others dependent on us. A common sense and uncontroversial concept.
Does it not make equal sense to care for our national citizen taxpaying base for the same reason? Fail to think and everybody 'dies.'
Being totally heartless and 'uncompassionate,' when TSHTF and bread is $50 a loaf (if I can find any,) I WILL care for my own (and those like me) first; parasites will not get a second thought.
You seem to have failed to grasp a simple reality.
UPS and FedEx are not government entities, and they have computer tracking programs that wotk,
Only for-profit entities must make sure that is the case, or they fail.
Government has no such necessity. IT can't fail; at least not until the taxpayers are forced to fail thrugh excessive taxes, laws and regulations, or unemployment.
I have not heard of a single government piece of software that is not hundreds of % over budget and works. Not a single one at any government level!
Can you?
For me, the California DMV and every County in Central California come to mind.
Ooh. I like it. Can I please steal it? :)
One person never can control or implement the solution. The final solution will be driven by an overwhelmed and overwhelming citizenry.
Having a choice, I would choose Bachman's position over Newt's or any other "politician" talking out of both sides of his mouth.
Not the greatest choice of words there guy.
That's an opinion, not a fact. A weasel one at that.
Taking the population in the early 50's and now, the technological tools available now that were not available then, the FACTS articulated in post #150 can and should be repeated.
Strange, that a third world country like Mexico can deport ALL their illegal aliens TODAY, but the USA cannot.
Uh huh.
Wrong. They ARE hispanic. They're just not Mexicans. Call them Mexicans at your own risk.
Hispanic = countries whose main language is Spanish.
Latin = Countries whose main language is Spanish.
Mexican = from the country immediately south of the U.S., whose main language is Spanish, but who also embrace dead languages from long dead cannibal and human sacrifice cultures mistakenly celebrating "great civilizations."
Newt could have said, "Control the border and then we can talk."
He didn't, that speaks volumes.
Bottom line I agree totally with you. Newt committed political suicide.
Everyone knows government does not work well. That’s the whole point!
Gingrich has some interesting ideas how to make it work more like the private sector.
Real and present fear of pitchforks and faggots. Tens of thousands of them.
So you would prefer Obama or Romney ? That's fine. Romney appears to agree with you now. At least until he gets the nomination.
Here the guy says what he wants to do, it is not amnesty, and you refuse to listen.
What if folks did the same with Cain? Ignore what he says and proposes, just go with what you feel like saying.
Did you know that Cain actually believes in 20-30-40 and not 999?
Thought Alabama passed a similiar law. The feds are suing the states that try to resolve the illegal problems. There are some states (California) that welcome the illegals.
I'd give them citizenship if they left the country and came back legally.
But I think that what Newt is offering is about the best we will get.
Right..all 20 million are MS13...who knew?
hope it doesn’t come to that
]How big is that white flag you are waving around! ]
I don’t fly white flags for Obama, nor the GOP. I will not vote for Romney, period, that’s a pretty clear statement of principle. And if you knew the sort of stuff I do for the conservative cause, you’d know what an asinine remark your white flag insinuation is.
See you should thank me for helping you out.
Because the Florida primary is in January.
I presume candidates are going to spend as much time as they can in FL and SC not just IA.
