Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
I take it you opened my link.
Ya know everytime I start to like Bachmann she pulls these stunts and has done so right along. It’s why I stopped looking her direction even though I like her. Can’t put my finger on what the issue is except she’s trying to speak too much about voting for her and why not others rahter than shinning the light on what she stands for and gaining momentum on that.
By the looks of this thread it looks like the winners were Michelle and Cain while the loser was Newt. I like Newt and would vote for him but he would make a better Sec of State than President.
He has a nasty habit of talking himself into trouble and going into lecture mode. That is what he did tonight, he should have just talked about the fence and been done with it.
Bachmann says to Perry, “these are nuclear weapons spread across this land (pakistan)
What do they have? 12? with no delivery systems?
Are you from DU? What an idiotic response! No one speaks of killing anyone but you. What a freak you are!
Your point is well stated..however if the guy was an illegal and we weren’t hiring them ..then the man helping to do your floor might have been an American with a job. It really is a catch twenty two when there are no guidelines established.
You can blah, blah blah all you want. There are other conservatives up there besides Cain, but Newty Greengrinch is not one of them. He’s a RINO. (And I don’t have to yell. RINO is an acronym.)
No, that’s what most other candidates do. He told the truth about the illegal problelm. We need all of them to tell the truth about our country’s problems.
This is so good I have to re-post your comment again in case folks missed it.....it’s well worth the read
“...2013 could well be a year when the Republican President, with a Republican controlled House and Senate deal with the illegal invader problem in such a way as to bring millions of family oriented Hispanics into the Republican conservative fold. It will require a really smart set of points to do it, but I think a really smart guy like Newt can pull it off and make our country stronger while pulling the rug out from under the anti-American socialist democraps.”
topfile posted - “”Newt’s talking about a 3 part plan. First, control the border- shut the door. Second, Guest Worker program. Third, a Review Board to review the illegals that are here.””
I know I am coming late to the post debate party, and will probably check back in tomorrow, but if that is Newt’s intention, wouldn’t that plan grow the heck out of government? Isn’t LESS government one of the things we are trying to accomplish?!
May God guide our course.

The pro-ILLEGAL alien crowd at FR is small. They’ll be silenced soon as their candidate of choice drops to the wayside.
Sometimes you have to attack the problem head on. It can be done with a leader. Lets get that leader. Even the illegal migrants know a phony when they see one.
Basically Pakistan is threatening us with a crude bomb they cant deliver, so the ISI threatens us with Al Queda getting it
They got French diesel missile subs and no ICBMS
The fed is still whacking your state over an ID problem. I suggest you tackle that.
I believe there is more than one way to get them to leave. Deportation is just one of the ways. Enforce the laws that already exist. Take away all the goodies and benefits. Make those who give illegals jobs pay escalating fines. Remove the possibility of ever getting citizenship if they are here illegally. You are being dishonest if you think the be all and end all is deportation.
But the idea that you have to make them legal in any way shape or form is a slap in the face to all American citizens and immigrants who have obeyed our laws.
Perry is trying to tell you the Fed is the problem.
“It occurs to me that CNN loves showing him because they agree with him.”
I think both statements are true, and you make a good point.
Pure Libertarians are anything but conservative and libs can identify with them far more than we can.
This is the definitive article on why Ron Paul is NOT a conservative -
“It’s Conservatism Stupid! (Or, Why I Won’t EVER Support Ron Paul)” http://thebandofpatriots.com/blog/2011/8/2/its-conservatism-stupid-or-why-i-wont-ever-support-ron-paul.html
Yes, and that's what Newt's looking for too..he explained on one of his videos how he can establish these by streamlining agencies and or altogether eleminating others which though would temprarily mean these would be then placed...and an overlapping of it to make it possible...but in time they would be dropped off entirely. Meanwhile they would continue to knock off all the agencies etc. which take up so much of government waste....
