Republican Senator Charles Grassley is closing in on Attorney General Eric Holder in earnest, dissecting his testimony last week before the Senate Judiciary Committee in a pair of commentaries published today and yesterday on his website, and they are damning.
Probably not surprising, since Grassley made it clear in his opening statement to the Judiciary committee last week that he believes the Justice Department has been less than truthful about who knew what and when they knew it. This column detailed his remarks at the time.
Yesterday, the Iowa senator zeroed in on Holders claim that Congress had voted to keep law enforcement in the dark about suspicious firearms purchases by private citizens, and today he challenges another Holder assertion that he was not quickly advised by Deputy Attorney General Gary Grindler about details revolving around the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
Earlier this week, Grassley ripped Holder and his subordinates over other details in the Fast and Furious debacle, as this column reported. He also blistered the attorney general on Mexican gun trace assertions, as this column noted. The senator has been a busy fellow
Of particular interest to Grassley is the timing of the arrest of suspected Operation Fast and Furious straw purchaser Jaime Avila, who bought two of the guns found at the Terry murder scene. Avila was a suspect for months in the gun trafficking investigation, but it was only after Terry was killed that he was arrested. Heres Grassleys take:
Jaime Avila could have been arrested for straw purchasing any time between January 2010 and Agent Terrys death on December 15, 2010.Senator Charles Grassley

Gunwalker ping.
Eric Holder, btw, was Janet Reno's deputy back during the good old Clinton years. Shake-and-bake Reno.
Less than truthful my @$$!
“The investigation continues.”
And there will be no resolve. Haven’t you heard? Holder is too big to fail, just like our pos, poseur. potus. Both are above the law and beyond reach of prosecution.
The list of illegal acts here are long, and the pile of bodies is just getting taller.

“Resignations will NOT be enough!”
I SO agree!!!!
Holder cannot go, at least not before the election. That would mean the matter would get into the news if he resigned, was fired or even led away in cuffs. Just like with the timing of the Solyndra bankruptcy filing, put off on a request from the administration, till just after the 2010 election, Holder has a job till around Christmas next year assuming the turd gets reelected or by noon January 20th 2013. Holder, Chu et al are going all out to ensure the Turd wins because if not, they will be one step away from the slammer as soon as someone with a modicum of justice gets in (thal eliminates the go along to get along candidates like Romney).
It’s the writer who uses the words less than truthful...notice there’s no quote marks there...for a reason.
In a snatch of the hearing I caught, Grassley already has admission of a false letter from a Holder subordinate...guy asserted something in a letter to the committee and now admits it was false and he knew it was.
You go up the chain. Grassley is the bulldog on this and just because he didn’t start out declaring the top guy a liar, doesn’t mean he won’t get there.
He’s already got an admitted lie from a subordinate. He’s going from there to the top. That’s how it’s done.
Once again, the words less than truthful are from the writer, not a direct Grassley quote.
No, you accept Holder and Obama as perverse punishment to the GOP for not running a pure conservative in 2008, and you tear a hole in anything any Republican does as "sellout/RINO/traitor/same-as-them" and never enough while you tsk, tsk the country going to hell.
If by doing that you inadvertantly help the Marxists seize tighter control by hurting their enemies (our imperfect allies), then so be it.
THAT is how it's done in FReeperlandia these days.
Where’s your sarcasm tag? There’s some who would think you were advocating what you wrote. LOL
Too many fear riots by “the black community” if Holder or 0bama, or any prominent black politician for that matter,
is prosecuted for corruption.
I say go for it. Last I heard, the ratio was about 7 to 1, and most of that “1” is concentrated in very small areas.
Rioting is breaking the law, and should be prosecuted.
A couple of “law and order” reactions to rioting would put an end to the idea that black politicians have a right to be corrupt because of “the history of oppression”.
So the damage is done and the damage continues and they allow this corrupt man to stay in a position at the highest level to continue his lawlessness against our nation.
We are in deep trouble!
sickened tag, not sarcasm!
=) Sometimes I wonder if George Soros created FR in order to demoralize the Republican base by attacking the GOP from within.
Seriously though. What could possibly be a more perfect trojan horse than to send conservative purists in who demand that everyone do the impossible immediately or else they should be ousted since they are no different than the Democrats?
Don’t we cheer the most when Obama is getting ragged on by his own for not being left enough?

In case you couldn't tell from my comment, I'm just a bit frustrated by the history of Republican inaction and downright complicity.
Any links or sources to the “subtle hints”?
