NEW YORK (AP) On "Saturday Night Live," even the devil was offended by the Penn State child sex abuse scandal.
"SNL" cast member Jason Sudeikis reprised his role as Satan, appearing with red horns and pitchfork. The devil was informed by "Weekend Update" host Seth Meyers of sex charges against a former defensive coordinator and allegations that university officials failed to report the abuse.
Even he was disturbed by the news. Addressing Penn State students who protested football coach Joe Paterno's firing, the devil spoke directly into the camera, asking, "Do you know how bad that made you look?"
Disgusted by the scandal, the devil says, "Evil isn't what it used to be."

“Penn State fans: Humility post-scandal? (No) “
Nail, meet hammer.
Exactly
SNL, NBC and the rest of the networks, the media, Hollywood, congress right on up to obama can get back to me when they cease and desist pushing the gay agenda on American children.
“i called the supervisor of the complex and explained what i heard but did not witness. their job would be to contact local police and report it”
Under your analogy, it’s YOUR responsibility to call the police. Not your boss. Not the owner of your complex. The police.
So where are the all usual race and poverty pimps? Are they content to sit silently in the back of the homo agenda bus? Or perhaps they are located on the dark side of the dark side... on that rumored "rich donor" registry.
Talking about the definition of natural born Citizen is out of bounds for Rush.
Thinking is a learned skill.
“using your analogy, mcqueary would be the solo-passerby and i would be the guy living in the condo complex he told the following day”
That was not an analogy; it was an aside.
To offer a valid analogy, McQueary would be the guy who came and told you that one of *your*employees* had anally raped a child in *your* locker room the night before.
“i called the supervisor of the complex and explained what i heard but did not witness.”
No, you called your boss and told him that a credible employee had seen another employee raping a child. You ask him what he intends to do about it. If you are not satisfied with his answer, you state your intent to notify the police.
“their job would be to contact local police and report it (as an fyi, if they did and you didnt also report... the cops would do nothing)”
I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean, but if a man of Joe Paterno’s stature showed up at the police station and said that he had a credible report of the rape of a child, they bleedin’ well *would* do something.
They would find out what child was with the pervo. They would locate him, talk to him, and take him to a hospital to be examined for signs of rape. Those signs would have been found. The pervo would have been arrested. None of the boys he molested between that date and this would have been molested.
“what more would you like me to do?”
Start by refraining from acting like a pusillanimous coward.
“the gang members live in our complex and ive contacted the front office. as i havent witnessed the event, the event is over”
So, if you don’t witness me stealing your car, the event is over, and I can just keep your car. Right?
“and im a mid 60s football coach... not kojak...”
I don’t care if you’re a mid-eighties blind paraplegic. If you’re a man, you still take action. If there are things you can’t do, you get help. If you have Joe Paterno’s money, you can hire a private investigator. But if you don’t keep trying, you are the worst form of subhuman scum on the face of the earth.
“what more should i do? get a gun, find the gang and start shooting?”
You don’t have a gun?!
“maybe i should go around to the other condos and try to rally people against the gang... except weve been told for years that the gang lifestyle is not to be harassed.”
Pussy.
“face it... Joe Paterno is the public face of Penn State and youre working off emotion.”
Face it: my posts show that I am applying reason.
“odds are good he stomped your football team and youd like some payback.”
Neither my favorite team—nor my alma mater—play that team.
“classy”
Yeah, but not classy enough to walk away from a child rape, or to allow the rapist to prey on boy after boy while I remain silent. I guess, from your notes, that you are that classy.
Well thanks to Penn State, the Catholic "jokes" about covering up abuse have returned.
The one I heard on secular radio late last week was a one-liner:
"Now Paterno can run for pope!"
Bingo!
huh?
I am talking about the riot on Wednesday night and also the riot/rally on Tuesday night.
They were mad that Paterno was dumped, but also mad at Sandusky, Spanier, the Board, and the media.
Besides lack of creativity, what else explains chants like:
“F*** Sandusky”
“F*** Spanier”
“F*** the Trustees”
and “F**** the media” followed by a tv van being flipped.
There were also signs expressing the same sentiments and critical of Schultz and Curley.
The fans who know anything about football do. For the past few years, we may have had the most incompetent coaching staff in the country.
Sorry, I’ve missed something. Has someone been convicted of wrongdoing?
Or are we no longer granting the assumption of innocence? A mere accusation is sufficient to destroy someone ...
We’re taling about Grand Jury testimony! That’s far cry from “mere accusation.”
“To offer a valid analogy, McQueary would be the guy who came and told you that one of *your*employees* had anally raped a child in *your* locker room the night before.”
Sandusky is not an employee of Paterno. Paterno was not told he was anally raping anyone. fondling was the term reported to Joe. Sandusky was not even working for Penn State in 2002, when Joe was informed of the events. Sandusky had retired in 1999 after 30 years at Penn State.
“No, you called your boss and told him that a credible employee had seen another employee raping a child. You ask him what he intends to do about it. If you are not satisfied with his answer, you state your intent to notify the police.”
Joe did call his boss and inform him of what a colleague had seen Sandusky doing. again, Sandusky was not an employee of the school.
state law mandates that upon notification of such events, police are to be notified. this is the question, did Curley notify the police or not.
“if a man of Joe Paternos stature showed up at the police station and said that he had a credible report of the rape of a child, they bleedin well *would* do something.”
the witness, mcqueary, would be the one to go to the cops. not the witness’s colleague.
“Start by refraining from acting like a pusillanimous coward.”
you go rambo! hey, there are drug dealers down your street. why haven’t you shot them yet? oh yea, something called the law
“So, if you dont witness me stealing your car, the event is over, and I can just keep your car. Right?”
again, you fail to understand the fundamental difference between a witness, victim, and hearsay. if you stole a car, in this case it’d be some unknown neighbor’s car, and mcqueary witnessed it and told me about it. i then call the parking lot super to report it. then what? it’s not my car, i don’t even know who it belongs to.
“I dont care if youre a mid-eighties blind paraplegic. If youre a man, you still take action. If there are things you cant do, you get help. If you have Joe Paternos money, you can hire a private investigator. But if you dont keep trying, you are the worst form of subhuman scum on the face of the earth.”
take action? gawd.. you’d be fun at a bar. i’d be messing with you watching you get into fights with people over stuff they supposedly said or did... but never had.
seriously, you do know there are drug dealers in your area selling crack to kids, right? why aren’t you out there killing them? every minute you waste online is another kid getting hooked on crack. it’s all your fault. you’ve been told. you know the stats. you know it’s happening... right now. if that acceptable to you? haven’t you called the cops yet? have you kept up on their anti-drug efforts? have you been ferreting out all the crack houses? yet they’re still there?? are you satisfied with kids on crack or are you a man of action? go now, rambo!
“You dont have a gun?!”
nope. come in through the side window... it’s open.
“Pussy.”
gang lifestyle was used in place of homosexual lifestyle. sorry if the abstraction confused you.
“Face it: my posts show that I am applying reason.”
actually, you’re posts show me you’re mentally unstable and should probably seek counseling.
Well, since this statement can apply to former Penn State coaches ranging from Sandusky to Paterno, are you referencing Sandusky here? Are you defending him here?
And if you say "no," why not? Your statement applies just as much to Sandusky as it does Paterno, right?
If you're (also) referencing Paterno, I think columnist Scott Ostler's column in the way he wrapped up it up here -- Penn State's Joe Paterno gets what he deserves -- applies:
Several e-mailers demand, "Have you ever heard of due process?"
The due process I've heard of involves a justice system and a legal trial. Paterno faces no legal action or charge. Legally, his rear end is covered.
But there was no trial when Paterno was sainted, no jury declared him one of the noblest and finest college coaches of all time. The public decided.
It's the same deal on the flip side. We'll take the facts and form them into our personal legacy of Joe Paterno.
The focus here is how the Penn State sports culture (fans) view Paterno -- even to this day. That's a cultural issue. Legacies are subjective "tabulated" by correspondence to reality or propaganda that is "taken in" by the viewer.
Sub-cultures can still erect defenses vs. reality...denial, etc.
Look, I agree with a "wait out" stance when it comes to the NCAA holding Penn State accountable. ESPN interviewed its president late last week and he said the NCAA will wait until the criminal investigations are done before they come in and spank Penn State (obviously he didn't use the word "spank") with NCAA by-law violations.
[Note: He didn't mention by-law 2.4...but that would be one example that Penn State could be "written up" by the NCAA...for failure to practice ethics such as "honesty" and "responsibility" off the field.]
The reason why this otherwise "can't wait" is because this isn't simply a "Penn State" problem...it's a major cultural problem (one that goes beyond Penn State).
Certainly it includes the culture at Penn State. When this story first broke, the Attorney General's office pointed to the Penn State "culture" as problematic. (An obvious understatement)
Read the Washington Times article about the profanity that a lone protestor had to suffer Saturday from Penn State fans. At Penn States stadium, profanity, scorn greet one fathers protest
Or read this Sporting News article: Culture of indifference ultimately cost Paterno his job
The Culture of indifference...apathy about boys being raped.
That columnist says: The culture of indifference that resonates still to this very day at Penn State. That was Paterno early Wednesday afternoon, releasing a statement and proclaiming he would retire at the end of the seasonand that the Board of Trustees should not spend a single minute discussing my status. In other words, Ill tell you when Im leaving; you cant fire me. Just like in the spring of 2004, when Curley and Spanier arrived at Paternos house and asked him to retire. Get the hell out of here, Joe said. Just like the loyal students camped outside Paternos house Tuesday night, chanting Joe must stay; cheering a man who could have stopped so many more senseless attacks by a sexual predator had he just dialed 9-1-1.
Sorry...but the culture doesn't wait for investigations to be completed, indictments to come down, etc. It moves daily.
Agreed. You raise an interesting angle that needs more discussion: What would I do if this happened @ my alma mater? I would surmise -- because this is an underlying cultural issue -- that would you get people divided on both sides...like what has happened at Penn State.
This discussion came up a bit in the original posted article of Paterno's firing, which is up to 830 posts now: Penn State trustees fire football coach Joe Paterno and PSU president Spanier
FREEPER poster Rintense made this interesting comment @ post #118 of that thread:
"I'm a Michigan State alum. My boss is a U of M alum. And we had a very heated talk today about all this- heated because we were in complete agreement that had this happened at either of our schools, and had been handled as poorly, etc. we'd be protesting every single day on campus and never wear a single school color again. I went a step farther and said I'd chuck my framed diploma at the admin building and tell them to burn in hell. It IS that bad out there."
So...does this mean that if the Michigan schools had done this, the alumni would be so up in arms that you might have massive protests?...Yet @ Penn State, the students were seemingly more concerned with their local cultural god, Joe Paterno, than they were the victims when they rioted?
In hindsight, I don't think it's that black and white...
Oh...and btw one might conclude that alumni and students @ Indiana University don't have ANYTHING to say to Penn State people if they've never spoken out vs. Alfred Kinsey: Indiana U. IS another Big 10 university that "outpedophiles" Penn State! See How Alfred C. Kinseys Sex Studies Have Harmed Women and Children [Big 10 harbors perp culture]
So someone’s been convicted in court? Who was convicted here? I admit I haven’t been watching this one carefully, so maybe someone has been convicted of wrongdoing.
I catch you anally raping a ten year old boy, I won’t need a court conviction, you’ll be dead so you can’t ever do that evil again. Your efforts to deflect from the heinous nature of these deeds tells us a lot about you and your ‘transactional taboo’ structure: there is nothing you would personally try to stop until a court conviction is in hand, is that correct? That’s the position you’ve taken on this thread.
