RINO.
Three words: liberal progressive RINO.
Add a fourth, fifth, sixth, etc: unprincipled, untrustworthy, flip-flopper, aisle-crossing, fraud, liar, political whore.
And a few more: abortionist, gay rights panderer, gun-grabber, global warming advocate, big government mandate lover, socialist healthcare pusher, constitution trampling, liberal judge appointing, TARP loving, bailout loving, stimulus pushing Keynesian statist.
That my friends, is no definition of conservative or of conservatism. Not even close. In fact it's the exact opposite.
Free Republic is and will remain an exclusive pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-capitalism, pro-defense, pro-borders, grassroots patriotic conservative site, regardless of party politics.
I support the Republican party as long as it promotes positions and candidates that I can agree with. The current party platform is a pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-capitalism, pro-defense, pro-borders, patriotic, traditional conservative platform. When they formally (or informally) start knocking out or ignoring traditional conservative foundational planks so they can run liberal progressive RINOS then they have lost me. It won't be that I've left the Republican party, the Republican party will have left me.
Some people say FR is a cult. Well, I don't know about that, but I'll be damned if we're going to change our core principles and values so that we can support a man who has spent a political lifetime trying to run to the left of Ted Kennedy.
Every one of his leftist positions listed above are documented on the video linked below, which is a compilation of about a dozen debates and other Romney appearances where he vehemently advocates and defends his leftist positions and ideals:
Watch it all the way through. If he becomes the Republican nominee, I can guarantee you you will see these clips and more like them, over and over again on national TV. Romney is totally untrustworthy. And it's all documented in living color.
Yeah, I know. He's changed. He's now a life-long hunter who's always been pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government. And "most of his positions, all of them actually, have always been conservative." Just ask him. And that's the point. He's changed his mind, or at least, he's changed his political platform. And he'll change his mind again tomorrow. He'll continue changing his mind to match the current political winds. That's what unprincipled, untrustworthy, lying political whores do. It's in the nature of the beast.
Bttt
I believe a Republican Obama is more damaging to the nation than a Democrat Obama.
“Romney is a second-rate Democrat.”
Exactly. Why go with this yo-yo when you can have the real thing?
“The Forum is more conservative than the electorate. We could very well be disappointed with the outcome.”
C’est la vie. We were disappointed in 2008 as well.
“Does this mean a second Obama term?”
I’ve been saying for some time that there is a very good chance of obama being re-elected. Never underestimate the ability of the Vichy gop to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Mitt Romney supports homo activists in their war against the Boy Scouts.
Starting during the Clinton Administration (does the name Roberta Achtenberg ring a bell?) the Boy Scouts came under relentless fire by the Democrats and their newsrooms for rejecting the idea that they, the Boy Scouts of America, should welcome homosexual scout leaders into the organization and let them take little boys off into the woods. Boy Scouts leaders didn’t think this was such a good idea. Naturally, Massachusetts Mittens sided with the homo activists.
Below are a couple of columns from 10 and 12 years ago about the Boy Scouts being turned away by Mitt Romney and the Olympics Committee for volunteer work on the Salt Lake Olympics. The Boy Scouts had been very active and high profile at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and were looking forward to participating once again. But the Boy Scouts had just won an important Supreme Court case (in June 2000 the Supreme Court ruled that the BSA was a private organization that could choose whoever they wanted as scout leaders and could therefore reject sodomites) and the Democrats/homos were still mighty ticked off about it. Massachusetts Mittens could always be counted on to pander to homo activists, of course, so he gladly came up with a lame lie of an excuse for turning the Boy Scouts away from the Salt Lake Olympics. The Boy Scouts’ disappointment was palpable, and Mitt Romney never returned their calls.

“Even though I am for Newt, I will gladly vote for Romney if nominated.”
I suggest you work very, very hard for a candidate other than mittens to be nominated. Because without the conservative base, the gop candidate loses. I’m not naive enough to think that all conservatives will sit this one out, but enough will go out of their way to find something else to do on election day to tip the election.
The argument that “we have to vote for the gop candidate or life as we know it will no longer continue” no longer holds as much sway as it once did.
“My quadrennial note: FR will come about to support the Republican candidate.”
If it’s mittens, I find that doubtful. Too many FReepers have developed a severe allergic reaction to rino.
There is no difference between Romney and Obama. None, Zero, Zilch, Nada.
But they HUNT with those in Europe!
“Romney would easily be the most liberal Republican president since Nixon, and his nomination would be the end of the Republican party.”
You’re right, and that part leaves me conflicted. IF the gop nominates mittens, they go the way of the dodo bird. I’d really like to see that happen, but on the other hand I realllllly want to see them nominate an actual conservative who might even defeat obama also.
I care more about the country than I dislike the gop, so I’m still holding out some hope that they’ll nominate a conservative.
Well, I will hold on to your optimism to help keep my sanity. Thank you.
You're welcome, Nan.

I really dont think the republican party heard us or the tea party, they took the momentum the tea party gave them and squandered it, now for their so called election there isnt a worthy one on the stage except for Paul or Johnson. I guess we need another 4 years of obama, the GOP snatching defeat from the jaws victory.
i wouldnt trust anyone that WANTED to be Mccain’s vp .her standing wouldve been higher in my eyes to have her turn it down, quite frankly I dont know why she didnt, she had nothing in common with that old coot.
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For those who don't, no explanation is possible.
Some people say FR is a cult.Whoever says that doesn't know the meaning of the word "cult".
A privately run conservative forum has a right to prevent leftist/RINO propaganda from displaying on its pages.
And exercising that right doesn't make it a "cult", just like me not opening my home to a Mormon missionary doesn't make me a "bigot".
True.
--MormonDude(It's when you tell OTHERS not to; THAT makes you a bigot - and a HATEFUL one at that!!)
so you wanted her to carry president mccains water....yeah that would improve her standing...got it.
