It seems obvious to me what Paul’s position at Munich would have been ...
The only result of being nice to madmen is not that they will walk all over you, they will stomp all over you (while you’re not looking).
That’s what’s missing! Wow, why have we never tried appeasement in the Middle East before!?!? Let’s just be friends, and everything will be better.
And let’s not watch the propaganda cartoons, nor the nightly state news broadcast, or read any translations of the speeches of leaders, because that would just distract us from offering the hand of friendship.
And lollipops will grow on trees, and money will fall from the heavens, and paradise on earth will be restored! Because, gosh, it’s all been because we’ve put sanctions in against a regime that preaches each and every day that Israel and America should be destroyed.
Someone tried to make friends with Hitler and we know what happened.
Yes, and we should just forget that tragedy on 9/11. That’s reasonable. /s
Let us offer the olive branch of peace. Grant it, they may chop off our hand, but it’s the thought that counts.
not yet....
(JMHO) Only IF ISLAM...
(ALL of ISLAM)
declares (nuclear) war on us.
When Achmadinawhackjob promises to destroy Israel by nuclear annihilation and bringing it up is considered blowing it out of proportion how should we deal with those threats Mr. Paul?
He’s just another right-wing Leftist nutjob (aka RINO).
Precisely. We must protect our borders and sovereignty. If our liberty is threatened by military force, we must meet our enemies with an unflinching commitment to victory.
You want to nuke more than Mecca, right?
Maybe he’s the reincarnation of Neville Chamberlain.
Right-wing?
Right-wing Leftist?
He’s a Libertarian.
Intriguing observation.
Because some freepers are tired of spending tons and tons of money on the military.
We spend way too much money on everything. Back in the old days, we had to spend to keep up with the USSR. They were funding wars all over the place, countries were becoming Communist, it was a really really big deal. The USSR was a real serious threat.
There is no country in the middle east that poses anywhere near the threat that the USSR did. All the countries of the middle east can’t kill us all in an instant the way the USSR could back in the day.
Yes, there is a risk. Live with it. It costs way way too much money to try to make the miniscule risk of harm from the middle east even smaller.
The cost / benefit analysis works in favor of big cuts.
Where was the “peace dividend” we were supposed to get with the collapse of the Soviet Union. We need it now.
The problem is not arabs in the middle east, it’s that we are spending too much money we don’t have.
You know that we’re actually borrowing money for all of this overseas do gooding.
Let’s just cut spending everywhere.
You’re thinking of Robert Taft.
Mr. Republican.
He’s not a Libertarian. He’s a right-wing Leftist aka RINO.
A "presidential hopeful" actually believes this idiotic notion?
